And come out of the closet with the 4140 Maxhaxs already!!

I have not had a chance to try some A2. I understand that it is supposed to be a very tough/durable steel with good potential. It has always interested me just havent had a chance to use it.

At 59/60HRc A2 has something near twice the toughness of O1 on the Charpy test, and substantially more wear resistance (according to Crucible docs). All while maintaining a nice fine grain. It's also a simpler heat-treat than O1 (no scramble to the oil) and many stainless steels (great results without cryo) and has very good dimensional stability during heat-treat. Oh yeah, and it makes awesome surface colors if you don't polish them off. ;) It's also slightly more stain-resistant than O1/1095/etc.

Hoss, I recently discovered a cardboard-cutting secret:
do not cut with the blade perpendicular to the media. Instead come at it from a reduced angle. This keeps the spine of the blade from trying to push against the cardboard's strongest dimension.

That actually sounds really good! Guess I am going to have to find something in some A2 sometime when I have the money to spend.

Oh my. I just sat thru this whole video and wondered if any of you had seen it and made it thru the entire thing.

Where does one come up with these ideas, analogies, comparisons, and knife defense skills?

At first I thought he was making jokes but it soon dawned on me that he meant every word he said. I did get some really good laughs out of it.

I am happy we have another new Becker owner! Even if he is still learning about things.
It's awesome that he is so excited about it too.

I loved it when he opened the bottle the second time in "slow motion" with the sound effects.......LOL

HaHa. For sure! And how he said when your minimalistic hiking and surviving you need to open your beverages quickly. Who brings a six pack of bottles into the woods if you are going minimalistic?

And man the rodent skeleton thing had me going.

Great find Dex. Thanks for the laughs!

BK-11, you know that's a good number.

It may be a little graphic, so I'm going to cut this tiny twig off camera...:D

I'm not sure. I think he's for real guys. He even showed us how to open a box. lol

And that Ka-bar cord will last 116 years or something? What? HAHA.

I might have to have a drink or two and watch it again.

A remix of that video would be epic.

I wonder how many times he's cut himself with that thing since the video?

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I think he was dead serious.

He should of left the camera off.

Im glad he likes the knife though.

The 11 was my first Becker.

Finally, in on 10..... Haven't really been on line all day.

Today was a real mix of emotions. This morning was hellping get the church ready for a funeral that we had this afternoon for a friend who had finally succumbed after a 3 year fight against colon cancer. (Another reason for my pushing colon cx awareness).

At the luncheon afterwards, just as I was walking out the door, one of the ladies in kitchen came and asked me to check out on of the other ladies who "didn't look so good". (She knew I have been an EMT for nearly 24 years.) "Wasn't looking good" was too polite a term. This lady had zero typical symptoms for a heart attack or stroke. She said she "felt tired" and just wanted to go home. Some people were going to drive her home. I took her pulse (was 54) and asked a few questions. I told her I was going to call 911. She said she didn't think she needed to go to the hospital.

Well, in a polite, not really politically correct manner, I told her that it didn't matter if she didn't want to go, that I was calling for an ambulance and she was gonna be checked out and no one was gonna be allowed to drive her home until she had been checked out. Period. If she wanted to refuse to go after they checked her out, that I'd call her husband and have him tell her to go.

Well, she went and I just got a call that she was now in ICU after suffering a major heart attack. One of those silent heart attacks that hit many women.

So I'm feel bad that she had a heart attack but feeling good that I made the right call.

Now I'm being recruited to join the local VFD after "retiring" from my old one after 21+ years. I don't know.... I have gotten used to not getting woke up 2-3x every night.

Ill be getting that parangatang for sure. 14" blade :D .188" thick, wish it was thicker but oh well... around 80 bucks... count me in!!

The Snody ones come with a fancy lanyard bead too. I havent decided if i like that handle though. I love that they used S35VN and the prices for the steel is great in my opinion but that handle is meh...
