It should be an epic day of Playoff football tomorrow!
I'm excited for the games.
So who does everybody like?
Seahawks here.!!

The 49'ers? Hate 'em.
The Patriots? Tom Brady can work magic in the Playoffs. I just don't think his team is good enough this year.
I hope it comes down to the Hawks and Broncos in the Super Bowl. That could be interesting.

insufficient snarkitude, so here's a smidge.
'night, 'heads.

This is what you missed hawaiianhawk...

He compares ivan drago from Rocky to a rodent skeleton. And calls him out for steroids.

He has some mad paracord skills, about as good as me. And he talks about strapping the BK11 to a gun.

if you want to disable the attacker you can go up high, down low, or in the middle.

You can defend against sticks, but cutting sticks on camera is too graphic.

The BK11 is his first knife like this but its his favorite knife.

I mixed honey nut cheerios with cinnamon toast crunch!!

Im a wild man living on the edge tonight :D

double posts. ads. you know. we need a working forum ;)

Finally, in on 10..... Haven't really been on line all day.

Today was a real mix of emotions. This morning was hellping get the church ready for a funeral that we had this afternoon for a friend who had finally succumbed after a 3 year fight against colon cancer. (Another reason for my pushing colon cx awareness).

At the luncheon afterwards, just as I was walking out the door, one of the ladies in kitchen came and asked me to check out on of the other ladies who "didn't look so good". (She knew I have been an EMT for nearly 24 years.) "Wasn't looking good" was too polite a term. This lady had zero typical symptoms for a heart attack or stroke. She said she "felt tired" and just wanted to go home. Some people were going to drive her home. I took her pulse (was 54) and asked a few questions. I told her I was going to call 911. She said she didn't think she needed to go to the hospital.

Well, in a polite, not really politically correct manner, I told her that it didn't matter if she didn't want to go, that I was calling for an ambulance and she was gonna be checked out and no one was gonna be allowed to drive her home until she had been checked out. Period. If she wanted to refuse to go after they checked her out, that I'd call her husband and have him tell her to go.

Well, she went and I just got a call that she was now in ICU after suffering a major heart attack. One of those silent heart attacks that hit many women.

So I'm feel bad that she had a heart attack but feeling good that I made the right call.

Now I'm being recruited to join the local VFD after "retiring" from my old one after 21+ years. I don't know.... I have gotten used to not getting woke up 2-3x every night.

Good on you for doing the right thing, you made the right call.

Ill be getting that parangatang for sure. 14" blade :D .188" thick, wish it was thicker but oh well... around 80 bucks... count me in!!

The Snody ones come with a fancy lanyard bead too. I havent decided if i like that handle though. I love that they used S35VN and the prices for the steel is great in my opinion but that handle is meh...

I'm right there with ya on all counts.

I hate the Broncos so much I drive a Chevy Blazer. I hate the seachickens even more.

Few years ago my shift supervisor had a similar incident, except he didn't go to the hospital...

He was out riding his bicycle and apparently wasn't feeling good all of the sudden, so he had his wife come pick him up. Got home, took a nap, felt better, yadda yadda yadda. About 12 hours after first feeling sick, he was gone. Hell of a guy, real good dude to work for and just a great person all around.

The wife wont let me have bacon very often right now, especially not double bacon :(

why?

if it because she thinks it affects blood cholesterol levels, she's wrong

eat all you want

because science

and

stuff

I'm almost entirely certain 154CM came before ATS-34. (nice comparison chart here) Daizee's right, it was intended as (and is) an upgrade from 440C. Further improvements in manufacturing (powder metallurgy, mainly) resulted in CPM-154 and RWL-34... both with very similar chemistry but much finer structure and cleanliness, resulting in tougher, sharper blades.

and have you tried A2?

D's right again, A2 is very good stuff. For a hard-use knife, I'd choose it over D2 any day.

It's not terribly expensive, either. Both Busse and Chris Reeves (among others) made a lot of highly-respected, tough resilient knives out of A2. And if you like A2, you'll love CPM-3V :) Even better toughness and edge-holding, finer grain, better corrosion resistance, with wear-resistance like D2.

The shine has kind of worn off 3V as far as being the "latest-greatest super steel", simply because so many respected makers and small manu's are using it... but there's a very good reason they're using it.

BTW Google search works a lot better for blade forums searches... then the actual blade forums search lol
...

I use this link to employ Google but narrow it down to only results on BF... https://www.google.com/cse/home?cx=011197018607028182644:qfobr3dlcra ... I think it was Cougar Allen who showed us how to do that long long ago in another thread far far away.

4140 is almost ridiculously tough, but because it has relatively little carbon, it doesn't hold an edge quite to our standards (it was never really meant to be used for cutting tools). IMHO you're much better off with 1095CV for knife blades, even big honkin' ones. I'm sure it would be fine for an inexpensive beater 'hawk, though. See also, 1055.

I am looking at one of your pics that has several knives grouped together. If you don't mind what is the 3rd knife down on the right side?

I just got this email and am at a loss. I've been here 14 years and have over 1600 pics in my Photobucket "knives" album alone. Maybe I should just answer "Smatchet."

About to hit an early-morning hike so I can get back and watch some football. I'm pulling for the Niners and the Broncos today. Brady has enough rings and a hot wife and model-like looks and a secure spot in the HoF. What else does the dude need? Peyton, on the other hand, has just one ring and been a great comeback story this year. Despite his Tennessee affiliation (Roll Tide), I still like the work ethic and leadership he brings.
