Anyone have experience with the Ruger American rifles? I'm looking hard at a .22 compact version.

I was asking about them in chat just a few weeks ago. The price is definitely right on them.

Eta: I wouldn't mind one in 22lr and another in 22 mag. I like the changeable buttstock, so you can change it and get a god cheekweld for either open sights or when you have a scope on it.

It's sad, I'm watching Bones. The episode is about people getting burned and yada yada yada... It's making me want a steak.

Im caught up on Bones now, The episode im watching on suites is sad right now too, Mike's grandma just died. Im only on the 2nd season of it so far. Just started it yesterday.

Hey guys, how goes it?

A mate of mine gave me his 40 year old Puma Hunter to sharpen. It was rusty and duller than a butter knife, and the brass was tarnished on the sheath and pins. The bone scales were grotty and needed oiling. This was my first attempt at cleaning up an old knife and I am happy with how it went. So, pics!

Before:

After:

So I used steel wool to remove the rust, keeping the old patina on the blade. Removed all the green gunk, cleaned the sheath with saddle soap, oiled it with neatsfoot oil and then rubbed some leather conditioner in. I rubbed mineral oil into the bone scales which made them look and feel nicer, and finally put a nice edge on it. I was pretty happy with the end results and so was my mate, especially how sharp I got it :)

Now I want to get the decades old Schrade Old Timer he brought for $5 from a second hand shop and clean up that too.

LOL! I think I'll pack a spare baboon liver on ice for this trip!

Or at least a few pints of clean blood to flush out the ol' system. Hopefully the new lightweight dialysis-in-a-backpack machines will be ready by then :p

That's a damn good idea. I just ordered some XL Depends...

Forget the Depends. I got tired of the rashes and squishy noises when I walk, so I switched over to a catheter system that drains into a second camelback. Just be careful to not get the drain tube switched with the feed tube from the bourbon reservoir...

I'll trade you my baboon liver supplier for your XL Depends source.

No offense, but I don't think that's necessary. I'm pretty sure they make regular Huggies in your size.

:D

And is KABAR also at the show? If so, what sort or selection do they have?

They're already on the exhibitor list, yes. Last year they had an Ethan and a Guyon and even a Moosez at their booth... who knows what kinda whacky stuff they'll come up with this year...

I wouldn't mind one either. I like that they take 10/22 mags, which I already have several of.

I read about some guy months ago that was shocking himself over and over increasing the voltage for weeks and also was shooting himself with pepper spray over and over too. Supposedly he was trying to get his body use to being shocked and sprayed with mace.

I think he was born with a few french fries short of a happy meal.

I cant think of any other word than stupid for that guy...... He should shoot himself a few times with 40 cal. bullets and see if he can build up his tolerence to that too.

Its hard to wrong with a Ruger Trade. Ive had a few, my favorite was a all weather 10/22 with a Valcorsen carbon fiber barrel, I ended up having to sell it one year when money was tight. I hated to, sure wish I still hade it. it by far was the most accurate .22 I ever owned or shot for that matter. The box clips they use are nice and easy to store. I dont think you would dislike one.
