I think I'm going to get my local shop to order me a compact in 22lr. I was worried about the length of pull on the compact being too short, but then I found that you can get the regular sized buttstock and put it on the compact.
Yeah, it's the "elite" class of the budget 22lr handguns. You really can't go wrong with that platform. If you shoot a 1911 at all, it's going to give you that natural feel and grip angle when you use it.
So far, I think it's very good. I like it a lot better than the S&W 22A.
Anyone have any experience with the Ruger 10/45? I have heard how accurate they are and I finally got to handle one this last weekend.. seems like a really nice pistol.. Problem is I want too many neat things..lol
Gus, to answer an earlier question, Ka-Bar is at Blade, and they usually show up with a little bit of everything.
There are usually at least 4 or 5 pretty good show specials.
First big end-booth when you walk in the door.
I hate to jinx you but what if you didnt sell it and then it was stolen?
The Neos IS a bit odd.
I like a crumbling chunk of shattered brick better than the 22A.
With so many decent AND attractive .22 pistols in the world, how on earth did that thing ever get carried to full term?
I was looking into those Ruger American Rimfires again and realized that they're about the same price as a 10/22 and the same weight too. The compact 10/22 is actually lighter. And my 10/22 is a pretty good shooter so unless the American is a real tack driver I'm just not seeing it.
I want that neck knife... the 1117 I think it was. It's freaking cool.

yep.
Also look at the Browning Buckmark if you want a 1911 shape and controls. In fact, I think the Buckmark's safety is more 1911'ish (if the 22/45 uses the same safety as the Mk-1,2,3 models). And you can swap barrels without having to buy a new serialized part.
The 22/45 from ruger is by far my favorite 22lr handgun. Absolutely love the thing. I have the 6" bull barrel version and if you are missing with it, its 100% your fault. That thing is a tack driver and easy to shoot. I also like it because it will shoot cheap bulk ammo and the high end .22lr stuff. The only con with the gun is loading the mag and take down. You have to make sure the mag is seated fully. The mag will chuck in fully but requires a bit of pressure to get it to "click" into place. Its not really a problem just part of the guns mechanism. Also take down is a little bit of a pain until you get the hang of it. Honestly I have fully taken my down only a few times because of this. Other times I have just shot the thing out clean, ran a rod through it, and greased it up. It have never had a jam through mine, only duds in a box of cheapo remington rounds. Priced at around 300 its 100% worth it. Plus there are so many models and barrels, slab side, fluted, bull, lightweight, threaded etc etc. Probably in the future I will be buying a light weight or getting a new upper for mine. I love the accuracy you get out of the bull barrel BUT its the gun I take on hikes and use for small game hunting. (It has replaced my 22 rifles) but it feels just as heavy as one LOL. I ramble because it really is probably my favorite firearm. It balances fun, with function, and form all while being accurate, reliable, and very well built. I just wish they made some longer mags for it, or you could find something good after market cause 10 rds gets kinds old. But the Mags are pretty cheap and easy to load. Seriously though... great gun.
The Neos is a weird firearm. My brother in law was all hyped up about one, bought one, shot it a bit... sold it and bought a single six![]()
Yah 10/22 is really a hard to beat rifle. A Marlin .22 comes close as far as price but it is not nearly as reliable. I was raised on cylindrical loading though lol. All in all ruger does a really good job on their rimfire firearms.
Nice! had not seen the Buckmark before.. I saw a steel frame ruger for like $350 and the polymer frame for $300 at a gun show.. the steel frame was really nice and beefy.. Will have to see if I can find a Buckmark to heft..
