You need an "Ultimate Clip Loader." Nevermind the incorrect nomenclature. I have 10 mags for my 22/45, and I can have 100 rounds loaded in a couple of minutes.

I'll give a +1 to this. I've got an old Mk II and it works great for Steel Challenge Matches where you need 5 loaded mags to start each stage. If it takes the Biscuit a couple minutes to load 10 magazines, he must be taking a beer break in the middle... ;) But he's correct that you do have to ignore the incorrect nomenclature.

That would make it Thursday Eve. Hell, Thirstday Eve could be any day.

Man. I need to get off this diet and back on the sauce so my brain will function normally. :grumpy:

Any ALICE experts out there? I've been eyeballing some different frame set-ups and am having a hard time distinguishing US Military Issue from imported knockoffs. Here's the main one I was looking at...

Excellent... Was planning on getting some of that carbon nanotube body armor to try out, but found a milling machine on craigslist, and will be picking that up instead. Should make my life much easier. I think I'll clean out my shop a bunch over the next couple days to get ready for that :)

You might give BCUSA a go Guyon. Seems someone's always doing a mod, etc, over there.

Looks like the one I bought at Military Clothing Sales in the mid-1980's so I wouldn't have to wash the one I was issued...

It really is sad how common they're getting. Oh, that picture I posted, turns out that was an under cover cop. Not very smart to be carrying around an "assault rifle" and wearing a trench coat right after somebody got shot. Im sure if somebody was carrying and saw him they would have shot him, or at least I would have. I have a picture of the guy who did the shooting in cuffs on the ground, but don't know if i should post it?

from what i've been reading, such shooting are *less common* these days.

in this case, a targeted individual murder, i won't call it a "school shooting" at all. that implies a mass attack, targeting anyone and everyone.

if someone is carrying, and is dumb enough to shoot someone ALSO carrying (openly or not), then that person should reconsider carrying, because THEY might get shot ;)

you are only supposed to engage someone if they are an active threat. a lesson even some of the police don't seem to get.

you cannot shoot someone just because you want to.

yep.
Also look at the Browning Buckmark if you want a 1911 shape and controls. In fact, I think the Buckmark's safety is more 1911'ish (if the 22/45 uses the same safety as the Mk-1,2,3 models). And you can swap barrels without having to buy a new serialized part.

i learned on the MarkI, and have shot a few very nice target pistols (not my own)...

then i found out Hammerli made some modern designs. oh, my, yes. at 33 feet, you can drill a one inch area without optics all day long

the "old timers" do the same thing with a red dot at *50* yds. that's stupid good.

my best day, at 25 yds, i was grouping 25 inside 3 inches. mostly. gutta practice.

Yah 10/22 is really a hard to beat rifle. A Marlin .22 comes close as far as price but it is not nearly as reliable. I was raised on cylindrical loading though lol. All in all ruger does a really good job on their rimfire firearms.

the take down version (in blue polymer no less), is a pretty hot option, if you want an all weather, compact solution

various other companies make so manu upgrades from "ultra triggers", to completely new uppers - like carbon fiber barrels!

even some of the "high end" guys, like magnum research. go nuts.

plus Ruger makes some nice options - a full all metal nordic kit version, with collapsible stock (actually good for kids), and has some mass for stability, and option for suppresion or other front end accessories

it's a fairly iconic rifle.

that said, i LURVE the SIG 522. damn fine rifle. lots of fun. it's a good thing. basically a SIG 55x trainer, but by itself, is a gas to shoot.

or the S&W iirc, it's basically an AR15 training platform with nearly the same ergos.

the RANGE of .22LR rifles now, and even a few .22 WMR is pretty cool.

i WISH WISH WISH KELTEC would get off their duffs and produce the RMR-30 already. so does Ethan ;D

Did anyone ever do a BK-Smatchet rendering?

For the record Dubz has drawn up every conceivable style of blade ever made or that ever will be made with Becker handles. Ever. In the history of man. But he won't share most of them as he is an old codger and a poo poo face. That is all.

Looks like military issue. I'm not a complete expert on the differences though having never used or owned a knock-off. And also, I never had a "brand-new" one. I usually got one that had been used before and repainted. Also, I do believe the NSN number was painted on the horizontal cross bar like pictured.

From what I can tell that is a typical setup for a military issue Alice pack frame: (1) an Aluminum frame and rivets (2) adjustable waist belt (3) Non-reversible angled quick release shoulder straps (4) relatively uncomfortable kidney pad. I think the kidney pad is a good indicator here. If it looks/feels comfortable it's probably a knock-off. Additionally, on the shoulder straps the male insert for the quick release (which isn't visible here and what actually connects the two pieces of the strap together through a metal loop on the shoulder pad) will be plastic in the same design as most "fastex" buckles which are common today on everything from paracord bracelets to belt buckles. Its a considerable weak-point for the quick-release shoulder straps as with more use the plastic will wear and stretch and be loose once inside the loop. For this reason, you'll be hard pressed to find an army infantryman or marine who actually used the quick-release straps as a means to remove the pack from the shoulders.

Caution when using the Aluminum frames: With hard use (a lot of weight and slamming the pack/frame on the ground from dropping so much weight) those aluminum rivets will eventually snap in half. In my experience the horizontal cross bar was the first to pop off, typically on the ends from dropping the pack on the ground at an angle. I think though, for what you need it for, (not quick dropping it and you probably won't be packing 80+ pounds)......you will be OK with that particular frame.
