Heheheh.
Hopefully that's one developing bully who's been, *ahem*, nipped in the bud.

HAHA! Good play on words. But yes, the fact that the other parents never brought it up to me and the teacher just let it go tells me that there either was a previous issue, and that my daughter was somewhat justified.

I ran into this recently with my daughter. She was at school and after playing outside all the kiddos were crowding around the water fountain. It was my daughters turn when a boy decided he could push her out of the way. SO she tried to stand her ground but the kid was persistent. Before they teachers got there to break it up they said my daughter calmly turned and bit the fire out of him. The teacher was telling me this story and I asked her, "so she was defending herself?" The teacher apprehensively said yes she was. So I had to have a little conversation with my daughter which she told me that the kid made her sad and scared. She was sorry for doing it. I explained that she should probably not bite and to just find a teacher, but I cannot really get on to her for defending herself. This is the only time she has done this so I know she knew exactly what she was doing. She was just doing her best to defend herself. Its a hard medium from trying to reinforce in your child to not hurt someone else, but to defend themselves if necessary. You cant really teach a child to accept being walked on. From what the teacher said was she never lost her cool, just calmly defended herself and went back about her day. She was regretful afterwards when I talked to her. My daughter is one tough girl though. Never have met a child like her lol love her to death.

Yea i wouldnt of been mad at her at all!! Especially since she felt bad, she was just doing what she had to do to show that she wouldnt be taken advantage of. Good for her really.

See my son didnt feel bad, And i guess thats my fault really. I do practice fighting with my son, and when we are practice fighting i tell him not to be scared to punch me, he knows when we are NOT working out he would get his butt whooped if he ever tried to hit me, but when we are working out i encourage him to punch me. I dont want him scared to throw a punch when its needed.

Now i dont work-out with my daughter, and she is a couple years older. Its not because i dont want her to be able to defend herself, its just she doesnt like to fight. And im not going to make either of my kids fight if they dont want to. My son loves working out, he loves using the bowflex and punching the bags, he asks me daily to fight with him. And since he enjoys it, and its something i always enjoyed, i fight with him all the time.

I had a lot of fights in middle school until I got to high school.. I got sent to the office like 2nd day of freshman year for fighting and the counselor looked in my file and said, football player? go back to class.. I though hop damn, I am golden.. After school at practice, after I had thrown up the 2nd time from running stairs, 100 yard helicotpr sprints, and fence lines, the coach asked if I was going to get in trouble for petty BS stuff again.. No sir.. lol.
In my 20's I was a bouncer at a couple places, one of them was pretty rough and I got it all out of my system.. about the only way to make me fight these days is mess with my wife or son.. nothing else really worth it.
I am with you WW, i remember the utter shock and disbelief the first time I heard of a guy pulling a bat and beating another guy up after school, that just did not happen... you passed out some lumps, took a few for yourself and then called it a day.. none of this revenge crap.. pull a gun or knife.. hunt someone down and shoot them.. get your buddies to jump them, that was all just cowardly BS.. now it is the norm.
One of my coworkers has a 9 year old daughter, she is pretty small for her age. Some boy at her school started bullying her on a friday, she came home told her dad, he called the school and they said they would handle it on monday... Monday rolls around and the kid starts on her again, he ends up pushing her to the ground and in the process breaks her femur.. she had to have surgery and the parents are denying responsibility.. you can't do anything to a school in Texas.. he is out $200K from doctor bills.. what are we supposed to teach our kids these days.. they stand up for themselves and they get jumped or ambushed, you teach them to turn the other cheek and they get run over...

Jelly Belly now has Draft Beer flavored beans? Of course, you don't get a buzz off of these, just a ton of sugar intake.

Trade what about the 77/22 I would think thats a little more your style.

When I was in school it was like WW was saying. If you had a beef, you dealt with it. A lot of times you were best buds afterwards. There was one kid that continually attempted to provoke me. I gave him an ultimatum and that was that. Later that day I got called to principals office and the principal asked me if I could whoop him. (The kid was a really bad trouble maker.) I told him I could and I intended to do it. The principal looked me right in the eye and said, "If you do, do not let him get back up..." He told me I would pay the price for it, but I was to not let him get off the ground. Confident I left the office to do what needed to be done. However, the kid ended up harassing a teacher and was hauled away and kicked out of school before the end of the day. Never got to settle anything, never had to deal with him again until I was an adult. Then he thought we were best friends. Just recently he was arrested for driving around a town and shooting a firearm at everything in sight. 90% of boys I went to school with are either dead, dying, or arrested. All their own faults. Funny how things work out.

Make them so I can get drunk and you sir, might get the Nobel Prize... for uh.... uh..... awesomeness......

I've gotten into a couple of fights. No matter who wins they both get respect for actually fighting. I'm actually really good friend with most of the kids now, funny how that works. I've also almost got jumped a few times before. I told them if anything goes down at least one of them is going to leave feeling a lot worse than me. They eventually backed down and didn't do $hit. About half of my school is African American and they think their from the "ghetto" and in gangs while in reality they come from a descent south suburb of Chicago which isn't all that bad.

Yah 10/22 is really a hard to beat rifle. A Marlin .22 comes close as far as price but it is not nearly as reliable. I was raised on cylindrical loading though lol. All in all ruger does a really good job on their rimfire firearms.

The main downside to the 10/22 is the price. Most .22 semi-autos are a little over $100 and they usually work fine. The Model 60 I think is like $160 or so. And the 10/22 is around $230 I think. But absolutely worth it. The way gun prices are going, I kinda feel like an old-timer. I'm always saying: "I remember when those cost $X!". I think my 10/22 was only $140 when I got it 10 years ago.

I want that neck knife... the 1117 I think it was. It's freaking cool.

Agreed. I think they might have a winner with that one.

Personally, I didn't care for it. I won one and just never liked it so I sold it.

Seriously. This punching to the face stuff has to stop... Punching to the face is a great way to break your hand (not to mention, people instinctively protect it). Have him go for the short-ribs or other similarly important but softer area next time :D

LMAO, you have a very good point but I never knocked a man out by punching him in the ribs or the side but i have laid a few out by punching them in the face....But like you said... i have also broken a few fingers, and had a metacarpal fracture. That SUCKED. But that was also all due to improper punches. But when you get real mad you dont always pay attention to form LMAO.

Good rule of thumb is if you're hitting a hard part of their body, like the face/head, use the heal of your palm. If it's a softer part like the gut, use a fist.

Them suckers is spendy! Cost the same as one of their centerfires IIRC.

It's unbelievable to me that you can get an actual mechanical system, made in the USA with heat-treated materials, that holds tiny explosions and shoots accurately for even $230. People pay $230 for a single FACTORY fixed-blade knife every day. $150 for a firearm is so absurdly cheap for what it is, that it's not even a benchmark. A set of replacement adjustable sights might cost $100. You'd get HALF a sight for an AR for that price. Not entirely sure what I'm getting at, except that considering $230 to be 'expensive' doesn't mesh with my world view.

Punches to the head don't really seem to lay people out either, for that matter, unless it's a hook to the jaw, which works because it torques the neck, not because of any real damage to the head. If I'm in a real fight, as opposed to the MMA stuff I've done, why not go straight to the source? But a good shot to anywhere at the bottom of the ribcage will usually put virtually anyone on the ground (and possibly in the hospital, depending on where you land the hit). Even the big tough guys with massive abs to protect their stomachs don't tend to have much cushion on the sides. Joints, biceps, quads, calves, etc, are all good targets too. I've won several matches against guys that outweighed me by 50 pounds because I got them in the arms and legs so much they either couldn't hit back, or couldn't stand.

I can understand that your daughter doesn't like it. I wouldn't be surprised if mine don't either. But they're still going to have to learn. I'd rather they spend time doing something that they don't like and know how to defend themselves than the alternative. And I'd really rather have someone who DOESN'T like to fight learn how than someone who does. Don't want them ending up BEING bullies, ya know? If they like it, then learning the mental discipline and self-control is even more important.

The only con with the gun is loading the mag

You need an "Ultimate Clip Loader." Nevermind the incorrect nomenclature. I have 10 mags for my 22/45, and I can have 100 rounds loaded in a couple of minutes.
