Ashokan is set!

Secret video of Sam doing some blacksmithing... at ashokan too!

I would like to clarify very well that that U-tube clip was filmed at A Blacksmithing Conference held at the Ashokan Center, not at the New England Bladesmiths knifemaking seminar. The Ashokan center hosts countless events throughout the year from envorinmental groups and childrens educational retreats to musical workshops. The New England Bladesmiths Guilds September seminar is but one in this line-up and we are in no way associated with the Blacksmithing Conference.

Don't get me wrong we have our fun at the Bladesmithing Seminar, but when the fun reaches a level that interferes with a safe and professional image, we are quick to pull in the reigns. Those blacksmiths look like they were having plenty of fun but I think they deserve the credit for their fun, not the NEBG. ;)

No no Kevin is right, that was the Northeast Blacksmith's Association get together, it was at the big conference they did last year when beer was ALLOWED (ashokan is usually a dry event), so I apologise for everyone's language in that video :D. Do notice I have my bladesmiths's shirt on from the year before :D I also have the piece we made too, and it looks as good as you think it looks, the weld did take too after another heating.

Jeez Justin remove that video would yah? hehe

But Kevin, 2 years ago we were admonished by one of the blacksmith's because we weren't following their strict safety guidelines...so that couldn't possibly be

Also because the prize Hay Budden anvil had a mysterious dent in it by someone wildly swinging a MASSIVE hammer one handedly...hmmm....who could that be ? :D

I'm all packed... can anyone think of something i'm probably forgetting?! =D

Got my blades, my edgepro, my bottle of limited ardbeg, sleeping bag and pillow to put on the bunks, clothes, kilt, jacket, and cant think of anything else i'm forgetting.

Kilt and kit are packed. The rest I'll throw in the van on Thursday. Scots wha Hae!

It is Thursday already! Driving out tomorrow =D Don't lose track of the days and be late for the event! (I've done that once before, thankfully it wasn't anything as big as Ashokan)

I'll have some BIG air cylinders with 1 1/4" shafts and like 24" throw, small bandsaw for wood, radial arm drill press, some small post anvil pieces of steel or "beginner's anvils", some other goodies.....

12.86$ will get you a hug :D

Oh yeah, those too, I will have some for everyone to play with, and maybe one offset head to sell, but there will be a bunch for everyone to try.

Sam, make some walnut choppers while you're there !
Have fun everyone !!!

Have a great time everyone! Wish I was going......
See ya all next year for the sword Ashokan!

OK, I really screwed up this time.

I saw the posts this morning, and thought, "What are they talking about?"
Ashokan is next weekend??? Isn't it ???

I looked at my planner calendar, and it is marked for the 25,26,27,and I'm off work the 28 ( Yom Kipper). Either I missed something in the earlier planning, or just marked the wrong weekend......but I'm here and running the store today, have appointments tomorrow, and singing on Sunday...........Man an I bummed. My friend ,Don, will be so disappointed, too.

I really was looking forward to this seminar.

I don't know if there was an initial flier sent out with different dates or what....it doesn't really matter now. I screwed up royally.
