Auction Site Knife From China That's Likely A Fake But I Love It. What About You Guys

I just found this thread because I'm trying to educate myself about Bucks generally and especially how to recognize a fake in 'respectable' setting like an antique store, gun show etc. Deciding something is fake when it's on eBay " 'new' from China for $10" seems easy, but once it turns up for resale in the US as 'used' it takes real knowledge to identify.

Ogien, the first knife you bought from eBay, the possible 'fake' that you originally posted about, what is the handle made of? Is it hard plastic or is it rubbery like Kraton? I don't own an original Buck Vantage so I don't know.

Can any of you experts on Buck tell me? I'd like to know so I can steer clear.

Start here.

Does the very first knife shown look familiar?

Aside from the fact that it looks like a Buck Vanguard it doesn't look like the one you showed an example of in the picture. At least I don't think it does as tollerances are very very tight on mine and the one in the picture looks all loose and poorly constructed. Hoever I have come to terms that what I have is very likely a fake. So not sure what else there is to say untill I get my real Vanguard and compare quality as I haven't a clue about fixed blade Buck knives or even fixed blade knives over all.

You've been told repeatedly the knife you bought is fake but it doesn't seem to be sinking in. The Buck Vanguard was NEVER made in China. There is no Buck tang stamp and it looks EXACTLY like the well documented fake Vanguards sold on Ebay and other places. I give up....enjoy your knife.

Morrow, thanks for the link to the Buck Counterfeits thread. I read it earlier and it's very helpful.

My question is about the handle material on Ogien's Buck Vanguard 'knockoff'. Is it hard plastic, or softer/rubbery like Kraton?

So I've been told, so what? I said earlier in the thread that I was pretty sure it was a fake. I'm waiting on an absolutely, 100% real Buck Vanguard and I will compare the two to see the difference. I don't see what the big deal is about that at all. Has nothing to do with sinking in since I said that I was mostly sure it was a fake to start with so what exactly if you problem? That I still own it? That my Buck Vanguard hasn't arrived fast enough? What?

I didn't build it, I didn't advertise it, I didn't sell it. I got duped and it's embarassing to get duped. Is that so hard to comprehend? Did it ever cross anyone's mind to let me lick my wounds in peace and that I don't need a brow beating. If I want to hold out a minimal amount of hope then so what? I know what I have and I'm 90% sure ya'll are right about it being fake. In fact I'm so convinced that I removed the "BUCK" name from it with some sandpaper. Doesn't change the fact that I find it to be a very well made knife regardless of it being real or fake. Is it the same quality as a legit Buck Vanguard? I don't know, mine hasn't arrived yet to make the comparison.

Ya'll act like I kicked your baby or punched your dog. I got duped into buying a knife that I thought was one thing and turned out to be something different. Do you think I'm happy about that? Does it give you some sort of pleasure to twist the proverbial knife a little more? Or is it simply a matter of restating what everyone else, who hasn't read most of my posts, already stated?

My Buck Vanguard will be here in a couple of days.
I will compare quality of real Buck vs fake Buck and that will be that. Where exactly is the point of contention?

So I've had enough of this, the horse has been pulverized. When you get the real deal start another thread.
