August 1st is Yorkshire Day! ;)

Happy Yorkshire Day!
I'd gladly meet you at the Maltings in York to hoist a few! I'd be wearing the White Rose of Yorkshire on my lapel and have my Real Lamb Foot in my pocket! If I were there!
Background picture was from our trip to the UK in 2008. My son was attending the University of York and the Maltings was one of his hangouts. I'd love to get back there some day soon.
Not an entry, Jack. Thanks for being a good friend and a great member here.

Hmm don't own any Sheffield, no lambsfoot, I don't drink( bout killed me once, me likes it to much) But my mothers maiden name is Ruff. Which I been told is a spelling variation of Rough, which has various spellings. An northern English name meaning people from "out in the rough" I'm guessing not townsy people, folks who chose the fens and moors. Wild country, I have no idea if their from Yorkshire, but from what I've read of it much of its still rough and wild. So from a hillbilly who's English Ruff/Addington ancestors settled in the rough and wild Appalachians a very happy Yorkshire day!!
Please count me in on the lambsfoot, I'd be mighty proud to carry and use it!!

Happy Yorkshire Day to all, whether you live there or not!
Not an entry - I have been well and truly blessed already.
Big'un will march with me today, and I will find a nice, appropriate Ale for supper.:)

Nice post, Gev!!!

Here's to Yorkshire Day, chaps! The weather betrayed me, it's some 32 °C and no rain, not British at all. I also don't have one single Sheffield made knife, so I'm carrying one that at least might have seen Britain from a distance, hehe ... Thank God I have some nice cold British beer to keep me cold in this heat. :D

Nice knife and British coin. Had to use a temperature converter, because 32 degrees is freezing to me! It's 89.6 F, which is a little warm. It's been around 100 degrees F around here for weeks. Or 37.8 C. That cold beer sure looks good. Going to have one myself after work: a Samuel Smith Imperial Stout. Happy Yorkshire Day!

Thank you, it's a Scottish Belhaven stout as they don't hold anything from Yorkshire, sadly. Here in Slovenia 40 C is the absolute maximum (1 day a year, if!) and a lot of us get a bit agitated when it gets above 30 C ... :D Enjoy your beer!

Happy Yorkshire Day Jack! Tonight I'll crack open these two pints and raise a toast in your honor! Totin' old lumpy today in homage to the grand Holiday :thumbsup:
Not an entry, thanks for your generosity in this GAW, and of course, for introducing me to the Lambsfoot with this fine knife :)

Jack the closest I can come to anything Yorkshire is my love for James Herriot's works. Thank you for the GAW. I would love to own a lambsfoot knife! Happy Yorkshire Day to you and yours. :):)

Great books, huge fan.

And of most Yorshire stuff too. Love to make Toad in the Hole tonight but it's probably too hot to cook inside.

Hi folks,

Thanks for all the Yorkshire Day greetings and great posts. It's getting late here, and I don't think I'm going to get all my pics edited tonight, but I'll try to post a few in the morning, and also reply to some of the posts. I'll probably wait until tomorrow evening to do the draw so that everyone who wants to enter gets a chance to do so. This pic probably captures something of the flavour of my trip to Sheffield ;)

Thanks again

Jack
