August 2024 BOTM - 113 Ranger Skinner, S35VN, Scalloped Richlite

I'm happy that I spent my money on a 113 (for more money) from the Custom Shop on a 113 with elk handles and Magna-cut blade.

I like 113s but I only have a few. There was a nice elk Boone & Crockett 113 years ago. But those are pricey now and your custom from Buck is just missing the B&C medallion but has Magnacut.

Should Buck keep releasing knife models with scalloped Richlite or is 3 enough? Mmmmm, scallops.
I have the 112 and 113. I like the 113 more. I like the way it looks, but I don't like the feel of the 112. Seems bulky, chunky with sharp edges and steep cuts.. I believe this results from the grinding angle needed to achieve the layered effect.. the 113 feels better but still is unique in its feel. I wonder if they could get the same effect on a 124, 692 or 105 without the chunky cuts...

Or possibly stack thinner cuts of g10.

Broiled scallops with butter and breadcrumbs. Could eat several pounds, get sick and eat more.

Pretty happy with it. The handle isn't as bad as a saw blade, it's actually grippy but not too aggressive, at least for my manly paws.

And... a steel I like exponentially better than Magnacut. I also dig the more acute grind by whomever did the sharpening on this one.

I'm looking for a kydex sheath with a teklock now. It'll be clipped to my bino harness.

This is my first 113. And for the purpose I got it, should be just fine.

Those look good. And I've always liked that steel.

(Still, I think I'll hold out for a 112 in Magnacut though. Or S35VN would be nice too, now that I think about it.)
