while i was walking on top of the tree.

the mountain biking trail i was on rides along the tree for half of its 175ft length.

Here's one of my Hawks that I really like. It's a modified CS spike hawk. Use it a lot when I go bushcrafting.

One of my utility hawks. This is my favorite one I've made so far. Can't seem to get the orange and natural canvas combo out of my head (Thanks Andy Roy :p) I'm going to make a few knives with the combo soon.

I have a brand new spike ahwk on my lap right now, arriv3d a few hours ago. I intend on relieving it of it's spike too, and yours looks great!

Oh great! They are very thankful for modding.
As a note, don't bother if somebody starts arguing about hardness on poll. It's hard enough for bushcraft.

Tbh I hadn't even thought about the tempering of the spike! And I believe you are right, it'll be ahrd enouhg for pounding stakes and making a mess of wood. How did you cut your spike off?

I have an angle grinder and some very thin discs that I will liekly use. And a bucket of cold water at hand!

Here's a couple of recent ones.

This one I just got and all I did was remove the rust, sand the head with 60 grit, sand and BLO the handle. It's 16" long and feels just right in the hand. Old Plumb cedar pattern.

And here's a Norlund boys axe that i just rehafted on a 28" handle. I hadn't sharpened yet when I took the pics.
