Axe, Tomahawk & Hatchet Photo Thread

Semi butchered up Plumb head on a House Handle 19". Thing kinda looks like a poor mans GB Small Forest axe. Has good balance and would be good for backbacking.

So I have been lurking a few days...gawking at the pictures of some amazing work you guys/gals have done. Figured I would show my tiny collection. Dunno how the obsession started but I ordered a Granfors Small Forrest Axe, and a Council Tools Velvicut.

During this madness I got in touch with my father who surprised me with some my late Grandfather had got. 3 Snow and Nealleys from before they closed up shop in Bangor Maine. 1 sadly was not stamped, the other 2 he asked them to stamp. Gramps had a friend that worked there and had called him towards the end. Far as I know they are 3 of the last ones actually made in Bangor. (I've read up on the mess that S&N kind of became afterwards)

Some slight scuffing looks like Gramps may have used them once or twice. Otherwise in great shape. Next on the list is a recent Ebay grab. (Gramps was always a Keen Kutter fan so as my first hanging attempt I am gonna try to put this on a handle a close friend of his carved for him...that he never used. Old axe handle has hung in the garage for years.)

And lastly...(dunno how popular or unpopular Cold Steel is around here yet :P) Cold Steel 2 handed Viking axe.

Not pictured is my baby in the mail...the other morning Lamnia.com sent me an in-stock message and I ordered the largest Basque axe they sell. (Had seen them mentioned on these boards and watched a couple youtube videos I am sure everyone's seen) So once I get that beauty I will have to post pictures.

Wow, awesome collection! I would leave those Snow and Neallys as they are...or at least use them for special occasions only as they still have the paper labels. Great story behind them as well. That Keen Cutter should make a great user on a haft with some history. Very cool all around.
