And for kindling my Cold Steel Axe Gang hatchet with shortened handle, removed the Chinese characters ‘cause I have no clue what they say, sanded to 400 grit with a coat of tung oil. And of course removed the blade coating and rounded the poll for batoning. The baton needs to be retired soon.

My Buck froe chews up an Osage orange baton in just a few weeks. That spine has 90 degree corners of 5160. Is birch a hard enough wood for a decent baton?

Brought the Fiskars X5 with me for a coffee in the woods this morning... chopped of a branch and split it with the X5

Such a pleasure to split wood with this little guy

Even curls and shaving are made surprisingly easy with it...

I have a cold steel trail boss at home in the wood shed that I have been using to split logs for the stove and I've had a few too many overstrikes with it. It's no longer safe to use. Not worth the time and energy to rehandle it, so I have a Fiskars X17 on the way.

Just got this in the mail. Allan MFG Cast Steel Tomahawk. I believe it to be the original haft. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. I’m very pleased with the condition it is in. Anyone have info on the maker?
