I forgot that the full size Griptilian was that big! I'm hoping that the Survive folder is similar to that.
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is ready to order! See this thread for details:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bladeforums-2024-traditional-knife.2003187/
Price is $300 $250 ea (shipped within CONUS). If you live outside the US, I will contact you after your order for extra shipping charges.
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/ - Order as many as you like, we have plenty.
That lil baby is on my "eventually would like" listy, I will be curious what you think!?
My initial impression was that it's a heavy duty folder, which is pretty obvious but is really apparent when you handle it. As you can see it's big but it's not unwieldy, the blade is pretty thick for a folder and the lock up is rock solid. It's taken me a while to break in the flipper enough that it opens without hesitation. I can't open it using my thumb on the blade stop yet. It is also pretty heavy compared to my Spyderco PM2. But this is a good thing for me, I like a heavier blade. It is also CRAZY sharp, maybe as sharp as a GSO.
Even though I am not into testing a blade until it breaks I was pretty impressed with this video of the 550, which is a Hinderer design but 1/4" smaller knife. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW0TVkcBFkw
I've ordered the 566, which has a 3.25" blade and I might return this one. But chances are I won't because I am really impressed with the workmanship and how solid it feels. The 566 is more of a EDC and this one's belongs in a pack. Nutnfancy did a review of it and thinks the same thing. But I don't mind taking a big folder like this in the woods. I'll bang on it and give you my thoughts if you're still interested.
