Just picked this up and it's a beast...ZT Hinderer 0561. I didn't think it would be this big, the first picture is with my 4.1.

That lil baby is on my "eventually would like" listy, I will be curious what you think!?

My initial impression was that it's a heavy duty folder, which is pretty obvious but is really apparent when you handle it. As you can see it's big but it's not unwieldy, the blade is pretty thick for a folder and the lock up is rock solid. It's taken me a while to break in the flipper enough that it opens without hesitation. I can't open it using my thumb on the blade stop yet. It is also pretty heavy compared to my Spyderco PM2. But this is a good thing for me, I like a heavier blade. It is also CRAZY sharp, maybe as sharp as a GSO.

Even though I am not into testing a blade until it breaks I was pretty impressed with this video of the 550, which is a Hinderer design but 1/4" smaller knife. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AW0TVkcBFkw

I've ordered the 566, which has a 3.25" blade and I might return this one. But chances are I won't because I am really impressed with the workmanship and how solid it feels. The 566 is more of a EDC and this one's belongs in a pack. Nutnfancy did a review of it and thinks the same thing. But I don't mind taking a big folder like this in the woods. I'll bang on it and give you my thoughts if you're still interested.

the 566 is likely my next folder purchase but the scales on the 561 are just outrageously nice looking. I would be very curious to see what you think of both/either as i mainly edc folders and bring my fixed blades out to play when camping.

The zt 566, was much heavier than I would have thought. I loved the egos and blade shape. Just a bit too heavy for me.

can we get side by sides of the 4.1 and zt561 please? i have a 561 i carry on occasion and am torn between the 4.7 and 4.1 for edc and this could really help with that decision. thanks.

I had a 560... Great knife, except the flipper always dug into my index knuckle. Sold it

I've been carrying a good old spyderco stretch for years now. A dragonfly when the stretch gets too cumbersome.
Lately though, I've discovered the world of traditional slip joints and GEC. Man, talk about a rabbit hole! Makes us survive guys look like amateurs when it comes to fanboy status!

Here's the 0561 over the last gen 4.1, 5 and a new gen 5.1. As you can see the ZT is substantial.

Here is the ZT with my Spyderco PM2, Fallkniven Gentleman's Pocket Knife, Benchmade Mini Griptilian, Leatherman Wave and sheath as well as a standard sized pen.

thank you obx. I'm thinking it's going to have to be a 4.7 next over the 4.1. I think we all know how this goes and that I will probably end up with both but the 4.7 is the next purchase. hopefully I can get lucky on a monday.

NP!! I love both and it's clear that the 0561 is closer to the 4.1 so the 4.7 sounds like a good choice.

i have a 561 and while it is a good size, I think I'd want my fixed blade to be slightly larger.

I just noticed that fallkniven gp, how do you like it? I saw on with micarta that intrigued me, and it's between the gp and the gerber 39 micarta. I know people hate on gerber but I haven't had a bad experience yet.

Wait a minute!
I know this is off topic, but what's the deal with the camo scales on your new 5.1? All of the others that I have seen, including mine look nothing like that. They are more of a reddish brown and black Camo with a slight hint of green and tan.
It's time to spill it.
