Back by Popular Demand... What folder do you guys carry?

I had and sold a Sebbie 21 and a 25. The 21 because I didnt like the deep hollow grind, the 25 because there was a dry spell of them and I wanted to fund a firearm purchase. 25 was nice. I may get another someday... The problem is this... I just recieved my Titanium Military and damn is it nice. At just over half the price of a sebenza I get the titanium handlenand framelock of a nice CR knife but the desgn of one of the cuttin'est folders of all time! It helps that I truely love the full flat grinds on spydercos.

I find Spydercos to be a bit odd looking but that ^^is pretty nice looking, and they can certainly cut stuff.

I really like the Enzo folders. I had and sold a couple Birks before, I didn't like the feel of the carbon fiber or birch scales. These micarta handles, and presumably G10, are pretty comfy though. Very good bang for the buck imo.

I never liked the look of a spyderco either. I always thought they were to curvy or organic and most of them still make me gag. But once I got to hold a Paramilitary 2 at my local place I was like Hhhmmmmmmmmmmm. Bought it, not fully convinced that I liked it. I had read and watched so many raving reviews that I gave it a chance. No BS... It is the knofe that made me realize I hate anything hollow ground and it made me stop carrying the Sebenza 21. I sold the 21. Bught a second PM2. Sold them both to try a Sebenza 25. Carried that for a good while and was pretty happy with it. But that didnt stop my from trying other stuff. Eventually I figured I needed another PM2. They were out of stock everywhere. I was impatient and bought a military. It seemed so huge! And that is because it is. It has like an extra 1.5 inches of unneeded handle space for my medium sized hands. It sat in a drawer for a few months because I bought it in the hot months. I thought it was too big for athletc shorts. Not wanting it to go to waste, it was turned to my duty carry knife. Well it started getting used more and more and I just kept on cutting and cutting and it started growing on me. One day I realized I left my regular EDC at home when I went to work. I change into uniform at work and back out before I leave. I feel naked without a knife, so I threw the millie in my pocket and left. It turned out to carry really well because its thin and pretty light weight for such a big knife. Its now a regular in my EDC rotation. As you can tell I have falllen in love with it.

Now you got me interested in the titanium Military lol I agree it looks awesome!

I like that Millie. I've had several PM2's but not a Millie yet

Nice pickup! What's the difference between the PM and the military or are they the same knife?

Pm2 = paramilitary 2. Its a smaller version of the military and has a compression lock and not a liner/frame lock. They are about $125 and are well worth it. G10 Military model is usually ariund $145. Ti Military models and sprint runs are more expensive depending on the blade steel and handle materials.

Inborrowed this pic from the Spyderco subforum. It is 2 millies and 2 PM2's. The black and titanium is a franken millie that someone blade swapped. The carbon fiber is a sprint run. The titanium PM2 has aftermarket scales. They mever made a stock Ti pm2. The bottom is a sprint run

Thanks for the explanation. I have the PM2 and really like how light it is. It also has a strong lockup.

The bottom one is a combo of a dealer exclusive and a sprint I believe. The one with CTS-20cp originally came with gray G10, then there were two with carbon fiber scales which sported either S90v or an S90v/154cm composite blade.

I'm also with you on this one. Have a DLC coated PM-2 with digi-camo scales and a satin Manix 2 XL. Admittedly the latter is big, fat and stupid, but a very capable folder to have on one even as a backup woods knife! The Spyderco products which are U.S. made in the low to mid $100s fill my appetite and fit my criteria for homemade, tough and no nonsense. However when it comes to Spyderco line in the low to mid $200s, I start to bulk. In no way shape or form I wish to knock them or assess them to be overpriced as I really do like them (that Titanium Milli in particular) but the thought of me losing or messing up a $250 Spydie or worse a $400+ CRK, just makes me wanna cringe!

All this spyderco love is making me want to order one of these fancy new custom griptillians...start a good ole fashion showdown!!!

Redwood! Bring it!

Casino, I feel ya. I can honestly say Ive never lost a knife. (Knock on wood). I have found that $250 is my limit when buying a folder. I can say i have only one knife over that threshold. And thats my Les George. Im generally happy in the $80-160 range. Thats allows for a pretty big variance in blades but pretty much eliminates junk.

Likewise for me. At that range, I very comfortable to use and carry the blade. Blade at this price range are already of fairly good quality. BM and Spyderco are my favorite at this price range.

I second this sentiment and Spyderco represents very strongly in that market sector, but has the less expensive Chinese made with inferior QC and steel. I would not necessarily call 'em "junk" but you do get what you pay for and those are not keepers ;)

Speaking of spyderco and folders we carry...

I have folders that easily cost 5x that I carry and use. But I find the delica in my pocket more often than not.

I still want to get one of those. The custom scales that Boomer52 makes for these things are awesome!

I saved this thread long ago, but have only periodically peeked at it. Alas, I will weigh in.

I have carried a PM2 or a ZT0566 daily for a long time. I enjoy both. On occasion, I pocket a Mini-griptillian or a Kershaw Blur... but only for a few days per year. On Father's Day 2015, my mom gave me a $40 check, and I pulled the trigger on my first SAK Farmer. I added that to my left pocket, still carrying either the PM2 or ZT.

(Side note: I like the Delicas and Enduras, too, and have several of each. They're generally in kits, and almost never in my EDC rotation.)

I discovered the Farmers come in colors, and true to my compulsive tendencies, I began collecting them in any color I could get my hands on. I really enjoy the utility of the Farmer without having to carry a multi-tool.

Over time, the clip on my PM2s (I have 4) has worn distressed spots on my jeans. I don't mind unless I am wearing my "good jeans" that are not cheap. Recently I began pocketing a GEC 77 Yankee Jack in stag. It's not tacticool, but I enjoy the "gentleman's knife" essence of it.

I EDC a S!K Necker 2 on my left side, and a Glock, so even when carrying a GEC, I don't feel stripped down.

I enjoy reading about what you guys carry. I watch the CRK / Sebenza guys with curiosity and quiet admiration. I like the Hinderer-esque features of my ZT0566... and have never had the pleasure of experiencing the top shelf knives. The most I've ever spent on a folder is $175 for a Sprint PM2.

I enjoy you guys, and am going to go read through this whole thread. All the best! Brett

I highly recommend a Lynch clip if you can snag one.

Oh that's definitely the ticket for a Spyderco!
I was going to wait for an M4 PM2, but I think I'll have to try out a Delica soon.
