Back by Popular Demand... What folder do you guys carry?

Ok guys. If the Spyderco PM 2 is arguably one of the best Sypdercos to have, out of the normal models, Black or Digi Camo and Satin or DLC S30V blade, which combo has the Spyderco experience?

I'm assuming black scales, and satin blade. I don't think S30V needs coating. I'm guessing the coating will reduce the smoothness of the action. Is that a concern in Spyderco?

I'll buy one to try and if it sucks I will throw it in one of the car's tool kits or something.

My pick will be black G10 and satin blade. View it as a $120 blade and let us know what you think [emoji4]

IMO, you need not "waste" your $120 to find out for yourself what all the "fuss" is about, but if you have a wad of cash now burning a gaping hole in your pocket, go with black camo and satin blade. You can always grab those for about $120 and dump it here on the Exchange for like a $20-$30 loss if you end up hating it.

I have never had a CRK but seeing that you're ot at least were, a huge CRK fan, you will find the PM2 tip very thin to be to your liking and the blade stoutness standards which you're used to. This very think tip is the biggest knock on the PM2 model.

Full disclosure: I have a digi-camo with DLC quoted blade because at the time that combo wooed me with its cool factor!

I'm gonna see if I can find one local to check out. I'm about to order one but can't help and hesitate and think, I could order a 4.5 BC for nearly the same money.

LOL I cannot agree more!

Or get an almost brand new one from the Exchange. Just don't expect CRK tolerance. As CS pointed out, the tip is much thinner than a Seb but it's useful if you wanna use it for some fine job. My PM2 is sharper out of the box than any of my CRK. I can already use it to slice newspaper cleanly out of the box.

I find PM2 hard to beat at $120 for EDC. Spyderco and BM might be the most compared knife. An equivalent BM will easily cost more eg BM 940.

You'll either love it or hate it, but I think you'll appreciate it's capabilities.
The black g10 and satin blade were always the cleanest to me. I wish I could find a S35vn PM2 at a decent price because I'd send it to you to try out for a bit. I love that steel and the light brown scales are easy on the eyes.

Don,

My wife's Dragonfly is also very sharp, but a completely different and fragile edge compared to the CRK offerings. She managed to chip it, it's VG-10. In my opinion, sharpness from CRK varies a lot. I have one I put into my EDC rotation last night that is shaving sharp out of the box, while others have been almost laughable dull, and at that price point are.

I'm extremely picky, and basically feel pretty much every knife I've ever had could use some edge tweaking though Guy and Nathan have both delivered edges that are outstanding and extremely sharp, and I don't think they need to do more than they have.

Thanks Casino.

You know the right answer to that; buy both.

What is an good price on it? I see dealers have the S110V in stock still, not sure that scale is my kinda colour though.

If you can wait for me to ship, I can send you a s35vn to try. It has a wicked edge on it, so it's ready to go.
Well, I do already have a 4.5 BC on order, but was considering a second for the wife and or backup if she doesn't like it.
I talked myself into a 2nd pre-order a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the offer. I am going to check one out locally, It will be easier. I'm sure these things are in the stores near me.

I'm thinking, the CPK offerings will be eating up my $$$.

Casino reminded me last night, I need to slow down as well. I need to get some renos done on the house, I am using the baby's room as my office, and we have another baby on the way. I need to get an office and storage room put in the basement.

They typically go for $150- $160 but sometimes you'll find them for $120 as a nice user.
That burple color just kills me on the S110v versions. I tried to like it, but I just can't.

Yeah, almost all my EDC knives are pretty mute. I don't do a lot of colour. All my cars are black too. Black Grey and the odd muted earth tone clothes as well. I like the S35VN one, but have tons of that steel here so I don't need to try it out. Just need to get a PM2 in hand to see how they are.

From what you and I have discussed through email, I think that you may find the handle scales on a PM-2 a bit on the small (and narrow) side for your hands. Barely 4.5" measuring from one curved extremity of one side to the other side.

I am OK with 4.5" on a folder, absolutely. Narrow, less good. I'll find one and see how it feels and maybe I can have a new beater knife. That really is something I have been trying to find. A solid beater.

I hear you for spending some $$$ on CPK. I've spent a decent amount of scratch on Survive already.

The pm2 offer stands; just let me know. It's on the block to sell at some point. One thing negative that immediately stood out to me on the pm2 is the edge length to handle ratio. But this much extra real estate adds to the ergos and multitude of grip positions.

Edit: best blade to handle ratio I've found is a sebenza.

Same here bud! I hope you sign up for the email.

Thanks! I've did sign up, several times. ;) Since I'm in Europe ordering from BHQ is not that straight forward so I just sent them an email to make sure I've got a chance... (fingers crossed)
