Bad trade with gnw1209: no comm. or knife

Recently user gnw1209 asked me if I was interested in trading my SRKW Camp Tramp for a Fehrman First Strike satin finished that allegedly was in his possesion.
The Fehrman that he offered me is about 150$ more expensive than the CT, so I checked his feedback and his posts. When I checked his feedback, I noticed something that got me thinking. He has three positive comments, and one of them is from user named herbert.G. This user joined the forum on june 16th 2009 and has only one post in a thread started by gnw1209. The thing is herbert.G posted in this thread 3 days after all knives that gnw1209 had in this thread for trade were gone(traded)! So, herbert.G had nothing to ask about. There's more to that - on the same date - june the 16th gnw1209 gave herbert.G positive feedback comment, and herbert.G gave positive commment to gnw1209.
There is possibility in my opinion that gnw1209 and herbert.G is the same person, and he gave himself good feedback comment to encourage people to send him knives. There's also possibility that they are helping each other. Seeing this I declined his offer. I guess that was a wise move.

I see he edited his post and put in red that he will only respond through E-mail so it is getting clearer and clearer he is just another lack of credibility and integrity jerk that does NOT belong as a member of our community!!!:grumpy:

Anyone who deals with these guy through E-mail from this point on deserves the lose of whatever they put up for trade. It is clear by his lack of responses here and his edited posts that he is not willing to man up.

I don't like to jump to conclusions, but from what I've read, this guy is a total scammer. :thumbdn: Someone should ban him before he gets anyone else.
 
I just PM'ed a mod and asked him to take a look into this.
I am thankful of all the positive e-mails from you guys.
I wanted to get this out there to try and get my knife & let
others know what I was up against. I saw he was loading up on a lot of trades in the exchange. I feel I got burned! I am pissed & wanted others here to know about this guy. He came & went a couple of hours ago in the exchange forum. He did not post any explainations or e-mail me after viewing mine & others posts. Do I have any recourse (constructive comments) with this monkey with BF or anyone else?

Jeff, good luck! From reading everything I have to agree with fp_tourist, this smells like a scam. I am a relatively new member to BF and the few transactions that I have been involved in have been great. I consider myself lucky, and I really wish you the best and hope that things can end on a positive note for you.
 
Just today i agreed on a trade with him, and he said he sent it out this afternoon. Thank you SOOOO much for posting this. I have not sent mine out, nor will I unless I see his knife show up.. I really appreciate it man....


Actualy, email me your address Jeff, you single-handedly saved me from being out 200 bucks, im gona send you a blade over. Its a dfarmer custom, o1 steel, g10 handle. Had a kydex sheath with tek-lock made for it. It may not replace your becker, but at least you can look forward to recieving something this weekend....... If you want it, its yours.

Watch out for this scammer! I am still shocked that I got nailed by another BF member. Please be aware of this rotten ass#$%@!

Jeff, I hope this works out for you and it is an honest mistake. It doesn't look like one but it may still work out.
 
Thank you for the kind words & guesture. I wrestled with bringing this to light in the time frame I did it in...but feel it was for the best. This potential scammer needed to be called out to keep others from being scammed out of their hard earned steel. Actually the worst part was explaining to my wife and kids what happened. They knew I was happy about the RC5, and now it is a lesson for my household and other BF pals. It sucks I was taken here on BF or anywhere for that matter, but lets be aware of this jerk together.

because this guy did not mail your knife and has proved he has lied to you about sending it i would have him charged with theft and fraud

I sympathize. That truly sucks dude. One of thing about a paid membership on BF is that it gives you access to the search function. One simple truthing feature I do on anybody I consider dealing with here is to search their posting history. If all they do is post buy/sell/trade I usually ignore them even if they are selling something I want at a perceived deal. Some people are here to make money or perhaps to skam. Folks that have a history of posting and being members of the community are more often reputable. At least they care about the honour of their avatars.

is a classic POS. I got scammed in Pittsburgh many moons ago by a con- artist for only $40 bucks, but it makes you feel totally rotten afterwards.
One can only hope that their balls rot off.:mad:
 
That guy posts here a lot of time. I hate that feeling someone ripped you off, keep us updated.
