Bargain $10 26.5cm Australian Folder?

a2d2 is a fine example of why there are lots of people on forums like this
not to take advantage or to mock someone else :barf:
but to share info and in some cases other things (knives etc) with others
to be helpful and upbuilding to others with the same interests

thanks for the good example a2d2 :D

I really appreciate it - i've been looking up reviews of the knife on youtube, and every1 seems to love them - they sound really nice.

just thought i'd post my opinion on the knives now they have arrived:

1st knife: I suspect poor blade steel quality and edge retention. it is also reasonably hard to close. However, the handle feels comefortable in the hand, it stays open very solidly, has sharp point, and is worth the money if u don't own a tactical knife and don't want to fork out $80+ for a knife. glad i baught it.

2nd and 3rd knives (in the same pic, came together): the best buy of the lot. would defidently reccomend these for the combined cost of $9.95. the way the close is cool - you have to push a bit of metal down on the back of the blade.

4th knife (the black one): my only blade with any serrations - so i'm glad i baught it - but i wouldn't really reccomend it to you. it has a one handed open hole thing similar to the spiderco models (ie. endura, delica). However, i feel the way it is designed on this knive makes it a bit dangerous as you could get your hand cut (hard to explain how, but its sorta sketchy).

5th knife: Wish i didn't buy this one. maybe it has some application in terms of defence. ie ripping skin, but i think it is the poorest quality and design of the knives.

6th knife: an interesting knife. i would reccomend actually - basically because its pretty, sharp point, comes with a LED light and i think it can be converted into a switchblade.

7th knife: I like this knife - its probably one of the better quality ones here, and it can be opened easiest, but i feel for you guys it would just be a poorer quality version of what u already own, so not worthwhile for you - but fine if u don't have any other knives.

overall: glad i baught them. not the same quality as my leek, but fun to play with and practical to use here in australia where assisted opening knives are pretty frowned upon. i don't have to worry about losing/wreching them too much so i can practise sharpening them and give them lots of use. its helped me decide what styles i like too.

LOL - if you consider being analy plowed with the Australian legislation in hardback form, 'frowned upon' I guess you're right.

Great news that you're experimenting with different knives though. :)

i removed this because i wrote something illegal here initially. sorry.

... it can be converted into a switchblade - but shhh don't tell my mum. [...]

i've always wanted to have my own coil spring lol. so yeh if any aussies have a spare lying around let me know and i'll send ya some money.

First of all, don't tell your mum, just tell the police in Australia to go looking for you. Autos are illegal there, so don't discuss them here. Bladeforums will not tolerate any support for illegal activity.

That also goes for procuring the parts needed, and if you have legitimate purchases you'd like to make, please post them in the Exchange forums Wanted to Buy section.

sorry mate - also i did post a thing asking for a spring in the exchange section - do u want me to delete it?

Protect yourself: don't discuss illegal activities. We can't support it here and police do read BF, many of our members are working police officers.

huj900, just so you can compare prices a bit,
O'Reilly's gun shop in Thornbury ( you in Melb? ) has 'standard' 110 at ~ $120, saw them a couple of weeks ago when we were in there, ( bought a Boker and a swibo though )
too much money for me, l'm afraid, but at least in a shop you can look and play with them before buying, though ebay's prices ARE better at times

Do not buy knives from shops in Oz. You WILL get ripped off on good ones and most of what they sell is junk.

Buy online, www.newgraham.com is an excellent source of knives. Even when shipping is included they will still be cheaper than buying from any store.

You should also go here: http://www.rusticforge.com/knives.htm

JDEE is an excellent Oz dealer, very knowledgeable and can get you a wide range of good quality knives at good prices.

thanks - i appreciate it. also - i will edit/remove my post. thanks for tips about not buying from stores here in australia. no knife shops near me anyways. i've checked out rusticforge, will also have a look at the other site thanks.

yes, prices are higher in the shops compared to online,
" most of what they sell is junk"..??

O'Reilly's has ( in stock ) SOG, Leatherman, Boker, Zen, Syperdco, Svord, Buck, Mora, Martiini, Fallkniven, Muela etc etc..and they're just the ones l can remember..expensive,yes.. but some of them are hardly 'junk'.. there's others as well, all of which you can actually hold and decide wether it fits your wallet, hand or purpose ( that alone is a huge advantage over online )..and then walk out of the shop with your new toy ( and use/play with it straight away ) if you decide to buy, if not you can buy online..

where you may/may not get the knife you paid for, days/weeks/months later, there is plenty of stories of people buying old and new knives online and not getting them in the condition/quality that they expected and then having 3 rounds of argie bargie with the seller, or having to send them back and waiting days/weeks/months before actually using/playing with the thing, which defeats the purpose/enjoyment of getting it cheaper somewhat,

obviously, l've done both and l know which l prefer, ( and l don't live anywhere near a joint that sells decent knives either )

gajinoz,
have you bought from rusticforge recently?

I bought through Jdee's ebay shop back in september, was quick and efficient...

Kept his email details and when I was looking for a couple of slipjoints, and emailed Rustic forge .... no reply for 3-4 weeks, so bought on EBAY, got an email back later saying that they received the email, and would respond, that was two weeks ago...

Hope everythings alright with him

Newgraham wont except anything aside from Western Union money transfer's for new international customers, so they are out too.
