Bargain $10 26.5cm Australian Folder?

hey huj, boker makes a cheap chinese stiletto that ive seen advertised online for as cheap as 11 dollars or so.

by bud k looks to be identical design but with different scales to that one.

Don't buy from Bud K. Some of their stuff is okay but they have a nagging tendency to sell blatant copies of certain knives. I know at one point they were selling copies of the Hissatsu and First Strike (though I think those were subsequently pulled).

on a brighter note - bastid are there any knives you would reccomend for me? i'm sorta new to knife buying as u can probably tell by my decison to buy these knives. I relli like the kershaw leek i have though. and the Ti-Lite video's on youtube look good.

At lower price ranges, my thought is that some of the best knives are Mora, Opinel and SAK. The leek you have should be a great knife also especially at it mid price point. You may end up finding that an Opinel will out cut a lot of knives selling at multiples of it's cost. They are not fancy, but they are sound and excellent cutters in my experience.

Recommendations for huj900.
Indeed it's better to buy 1 decent knife than 10 so so ones.
- The Browning Ice storm is incredible value and available here and there at a very good price. The cheapest dealer is CDNN but I think they don't ship abroad. But some ebay dealers will offer it at an acceptable price. The one that's a true rebranded Mcusta is the one with a slightly curved alu handle
- One of my absolute faves is a quite affordable knife, made with care in Scandinavia with good 12C27 steel. The EKA masur is super light yet sturdy enough for most uses, very ergonomic, and just plain different from and more stylish than the utilitarian look of G10/Zytel/FRN handled folders:

- a surprisingly sturdy and useful BIG folder is Opinel #12. The biggest "normal" Opinel, it is in my opinion excellent:

- More tactical looking gems with good quality/price are the popular Boker Trance and Boker M types. The slender profiles make them very easy and comfy to carry:

The classic metal-clad Victorinox Soldier is one of the true EDC gems (and there is a new Soldier with one hand opening etc coming soon):

I tried living in a Chinese once, but neither of us were really very comfortable with the arrangement.

::ducking and running::

:D:D I thought that was pretty funny.

Anyway, huj900, if you want a quality budget knife I recommend you look at Spydercos Byrd Line, The Böker Trance&Hyper, Opinels, Moras, SAKs, Benchmade Red Class, Kershaw Vapor, really there are so many good budget knives i suggest you take a look at.

there us a buck 110 custom spider ($0.99), but 9 days to go and a boker magnum scrollwork $15 that are on ebay. i think someone said the buck 110 might be a good buy? thought i'd ask u guys what you think BEFORE i jump and buy. with the byrd's - i'd like to get one, but they are rather more expensive here in australia due to $0.60 currency, postage costs from overseas etc.

The 110 is a classic that one day will end up in any knife nut's collection.
But I do also feel that by today's standards it's awfully heavy as an edc. And the 420 steel blade (of the normal edition, I have Cabela's version with S30V blade), whatever heat treatment it receives, will never be as good as VG10 etc

ok. the 110 has nine days to go. what do u think a reasonable maximum bid + $7 postage?

Huj, "value" and "reasonable" have a very wide scope of meaning among knife collectors. The knives you're looking at are for your hobby and your enjoyment. Pay what your comfortable paying for what your getting.

But, If I were you, I'd save my money for a couple months or for however long it takes, and instead of buying a lot cheaper knives go out and get yourself one really nice knife that you've had your eye on.

I know it's hard to not buy stuff sometimes, especially when the urge strikes, but resist for awhile and save up for an "expensive" knife that you'd like to have.

huj900, just so you can compare prices a bit,
O'Reilly's gun shop in Thornbury ( you in Melb? ) has 'standard' 110 at ~ $120, saw them a couple of weeks ago when we were in there, ( bought a Boker and a swibo though )
too much money for me, l'm afraid, but at least in a shop you can look and play with them before buying, though ebay's prices ARE better at times

huj900 if you cover the postage(i'm broke at the moment) i'll send you a 110 i have that is just sitting in my knife box. i have never used it, but it's not in NIB cond, and has no pouch. let me know if you want it.

a2d2 i just send u an email. and yes that would b awesome! i really appreciate it. the email should be coming from luke-williams-@hotmail.com or huj900 i would imagine. with my address, and asking about how u would like me to pay postage, etc. thanks :)
