Batoning ESEE 5 into Becker BK-2 and vice versa !!

...It was a poor attempt at humor:D
(Sorry, missed the humor :o I often find myself explaining scientific methods when another known knife destroyer gets attacked by posters with mistaken reasoning, so I try to share the knowledge when stuff like this comes up - trying to foster love over hate, y'know. I took ya too seriously, my bad.)

...you just sold a shitload of 5s with that crazy video....

TAGannon, if you don't want it, there are plenty of men and women serving in our armed forces who would surely benefit from such a tool (for reasons besides cutting into the edge of a thinner blade;)). Christmas may have passed, but...
Hmm, I wonder if there are any charitable organizations for such a thing so you could write it off on taxes? (just kidding)

yeah, no bias in this video.... Man this has turned into 7 pages !! I seen the thread at lunch but couldn't watch the video...

I don't really know what it proved, I've taken a low end machete and a high grade machete and clanged the edges together really hard once and they both chipped.... just like I thought they would..

A truly scientific test can not be done with human hands.. you need to place the knife in a vise with a block of steel under it, and have a calibrated hammer head pound on them...

tom needs to baton an ezula and a bk11!!!!!!!!!! that would be fun. oh yeah i own both, and love both, but the esee 5 holds a special place in my heart. i would take my esee 5 to hell and back if i could only choose one. p.s. the esee 5 has micarta scales and a kydex sheath. that is why it cost more. you cant go wrong with either one.

Great video, Its great to know that I am safe against them Becker Ninjas :D Sold me on a ESEE 5 and a BK2... you know... if you dont want the replacements you could send em over to me ;)..... Just an option:D

I think that Jeff has a point with the number of 5's this video will encourage people to buy. If you don't want to accept the knife, I'm sure there's a way that you can donate it to a soldier who is going to deploy sometime soon. I'm sure there are websites where soldiers go to where they can request items they need and good samaritans can purchase the items for them.

Congratulations, you just proved that beating two sharpened blades together with a hammer will ruin both knives. Both of these knives are very capable of doing their intended jobs very well. I just hope that know one thinks that the BK2 is a inferior knife!

Jeff you are nuts man jesus give me an address so we can replace it. :D Put this on the Becker forum and see if you get a new bk-2. No hits on anyone personally this is business and that right there is where the esee 5 really wipes the floor with the competition. It's a hard, hard, cold world for the competition.

I am willing to bet that Tooge will not want to warranty this one but, I will send you a fresh one if you feel the need.........

All Best.....

ethan

I don't need to say anything.

Man no one thinks your abusing the warranty if Jeff gets on here after seeing the video and says claim your knife. Go get your prize, well done.

What prize? There isn't a real winner here. Both are great knives. He does not want to claim the warranty, as it was a test that he knew would not fare well with either knife. He did it on his own dollar, knowing in advance he would not ask for nor want a warranty replacement.

Great videos! It's safe to say that both knifes are first class and the only thing separating them is edge geometry. I love how Ethan even popped in to say a few words, he really is a class act! I think this video is going to do for the spike in ESEE 5 sales as the infamous "hog hunt" video did for Junglas sales.:D

KaBar probably won't be able to keep up with the demand for the BK2 :)

Jeff, you're perfectly welcome to insult someone in this thread and then send me a 5. :D

Hey Tom Gannon....

I realized a moment or two ago that there is huge 800 lb question standing in the back of the room - was alcohol involved in the conceptual or planning stages ????......No insult is intended but, inquiring minds would like to know........

If you ever get to the Great Smokies area let me know.......I will be happy to buy you a beer or a cup of coffee, at the very least........

All Best....

Take him up on it Tom. He's never offered me that!

Very interesting thread - I own knives from Becker and ESEE and I rate them both highly and have no bias here.

This thread really shows what quality guys Ethan and Jeff are.

I do find it a bit disappointing that he didnt actually put his money where his mouth is... he said he would baton the 5 THROUGH the BK2, didnt see that happen. Not saying the 5 wouldnt be 'the last knife standing', but it would be interesting to see them matched at the same blade thickness...
