Bear Grylls ultimate knife... or ultimate failure?

Imagine if someone claimed something as controversial and unqualified as "The Gerber Paraframe is garbage".

I don't own a Paraframe.
I've never owned a Paraframe.
I've never used a Paraframe.
I've never handled a Paraframe for longer than a few seconds.
I've never even read a review or watched a youtube review on the Paraframe.

But I"m gonna flat out say it. The Gerber Paraframe is garbage.

Fight me!

This should help you out.

Asking someone why they think a knife is garbage is not an endorsement of the knife… but since you’re here, as well as others, I can only assume another “signal flare” has gone up over in another part of the forum.

You said you're tempted to baton one through a 10" tree to show that it's not garbage. Why do you think the knife isn't garbage despite every review ever concluding that it's garbage?

Nah... They all just heard about the rockin'-good time we were having, and wanted to join in on the festivities!

You should still be able to explain why. Sorry asking for an explanation annoys you.

Did I say it wasn’t garbage? Plenty of cars I think are garbage that still get me where I need to go. The batoning remark wasn’t an endorsement, it was to show people are exaggerating the seriousness of this matter.

I don’t like the knife. I wouldn’t buy it. But if I called it “garbage” I’d damn well be able to explain why.

Why does asking you to explain why upset you so much?

Can you explain specifically why those cars that get you where you need to go are garbage?

The BG Gerber knife is garbage, because if it was a car it would not get you where you need to go. It would break down every time you tried to drive it.

I can explain why. I don't need to. Nobody here needs me to. The only reason anybody would demand an explanation is if they were a relentless troll who only takes a contrary position to argue against people he doesn't like.

Gerber seems to have done a good job with the Strongarm, a much better "survival knife".
It does seem to get much more positive feedback. On several occasions I have considered buying one, but something just keeps mentally blocking my resolve.

I have only one older Gerber folder, which has served me well. My Dad used to absolutely love the original multi tool. Paired with a Buck 112 on his belt, those models served him through his entire career in the field. He went through two 112s, and two Gerbers.

Yes. Start a thread about garbage cars and we can discuss.

I doubt that. I think the knife cuts things, and doesn’t break “every time it’s used”.

Again, not me endorsing the knife, but this is a knife forum… you gotta do better than that. It might be good enough for others, but it isn’t good enough for me.

Oh so “majority rules” type stuff? If you have enough people that hit the thumbs up on your comment or say “yeah, what he said” you don’t need to ever explain anything? Hey man, you do you. That isn’t how I operate.

I only have 2 Gerbers: the 06, and the Empower.
Love the Empower, and am indifferent about the 06. It just doesn't "fire" with authority!
How's that for explaining?

Or they're interested in the thought process that formed the opinion.
Yes. This. I think people are offended I dared to ask for the thought process and now what we have is this little war they’ve waged. “Can’t NOBODY ask ME why I think the way I think!!” That is what I’m up against here.

Part of me wants to buy one and baton it through a 10” diameter tree just to shut some of you up… but I know you’d find some way to criticize the way it was done and still call it garbage.

Never know till ya try.

Personally if someone wants to chop and split with a Gerber I’d recommend their Fiskars made hatchets/axes instead. 🤷‍♂️

I'm as much of a nobody; as anybody in here... Why???
