beard here. I used to joke that all new physics majors were "issued" a beard and a pipe upon acceptance. 'Course I quit smoking regularily many years ago and the last time I shaved I discovered threee chins!!!!! Grew it back at once. Just lazy I guess- more time for the forums.

Beard.
Used to be I just had a goatee, but I figure since I can't be a mountain man, I can at least look like one.
Also went to shaving my head. Figured since I was losing it anyway, I had 4 choices:
1.) The Captain Picard hairdo.
2.) The combover
3.) Rogaine
4.) F**k it, go with it.

Goes with the mountain man motif. Although I keep getting told that I need to get a Harley.

I try to maintain the clean shaven and respectable look

Full beard for me - since the 1970's. Maybe one or two short stretches where I cut it off for one reason or another. Its gone all white on me though!!

Here is a picture that is an example of what I honestly would like to be able to grow. It was a picture for a Koster contest that never came to be. And my face always looked real awkward in the pics, so I chopped on a beard.

Disclaimer: If you can actually see them, yes I have finger tattoos similar to the Boondock saints. No i don't love the movie, its my family motto. I just liked the idea.

Clean shaven. Flat top, tight on the sides, as well.

On a day when I'm feeling indulgent, I'll shave with both razor *and* electric.

Beards winning at a 2-to-1 ratio?!?

We might be the manliest bunch of guys on the entire internet!!!

lots of RedBeards here! right on! My beard is pretty short right now, but I have had the full on red beard hair everywhere crazed mountain man beard. Goes great with a shaved head and mirror glacier glasses.

no pics.

whatever you call a goatee w/o the mustache

Actually: Without the moustache, it's called a goatee. Most of the people here who are saying that they have goatees mean that they have Van Dykes (Van Dyke = goatee + moustache).

See here:

However, "goatee" has been misused so much in recent years, that it's become an accepted synonym for Van Dyke.

– and back, again, all the time. Right now, I have about a week's worth of stubble.

Oh wow did not know that, so a goatee has to be hanging versus van dike which is close to a chin.

Beard..not a great one and I trim it with a 1/8" clipper along with my hair every 2 weeks or so. Why shave if you don't have to? I can't grow it long or it bugs me. Not sure why it just does. Probably cause like my head it's curly and I can't stand my curly hair.

Goat. I grew one because my face and neck were so fat that I needed something to define where my chin was supposed to be :) Now it's just kinda my "look". When I finish getting in shape I may shave it though.

Same here. My face is round and with my Goatee, it makes my face look slimmer and I look really young for 40 so I keep the goatee because it makes me look more my age. At least thats what everyone tells me. I do get tired of the trimming and stuff though.

I'm a trimmed beard wearer, sorta like my sideburns have crept down my jaw to meet my Van Dyke (thanks Evolute!) I shave my neck and cheeks and trim it to 'bout 4mm once a week for the sake of my wife and customers.

And my Scottish blood comes out on my chin:grumpy:, I got dark brown hair and a red beard!
People have even asked me if I dye my hair to cover the ginger!!!

Damn...I was going to vote beard until I saw all your ugly mugs!

Now excuse me while I go shave mine off.:p
