Beating on a Game Warden

Now that's the way its done....sharpen and move on to another target...Good on ya Tony!!!!!

I took a few close up shots of the edges of the Warden, and the machete.

This is the machete, you can see how much deflection it took to chip out the INFI. An insane amount!

I think the chip is still in there, it's hard to tell because I hit it a time or two after it cracked, and rounded out the torn steel.

And the Warden. These are pretty gruesome.... Probably NSFW......

I warned you.....

And to pretty things up around here, both of my hammered Wardens.

I'm not sure that chipped at all, looks like good ole' fashioned deformation to my eyes. Bent clean to one side, is the edge grind still there too?

That mashed piece is cold worked now, so it will break off. But mashing it down and grinding away will work for sure.

Think about it, on most knives a deformation that big will propagate a crack through the blade. Not with INFI. Pretty cool And this is why we buy INFI

On most blades that deformation would have been almost nonexistent and what would be in it's place is a massive chip at best…. :)

The edge is gone in that spot, maybe still stuck in the machete. And the small piece of edge isn't really bent out of line with the main part of the blade, which also remained straight until the extreme edge of the tear.

That piece in the GW blade is separated from the blade but stuck there still. And yeah, I should have said it tore out, not chipped.

I'm not sure. I was having the thought that it had proved it was tough, and maybe it was time to do some edge retention slicing different materials. I sharpened the GW today, and fixed the tip, but left the tear out just as it is. I have that little 1/4" section of sharp blade to do some further beating on the machete or something with too. Why grind off what I can break off? :D

Hell yes. I like the way you think sir. With the ironclad warranty these things have, they should be like everlasting gobstoppers. You really only need 1 in each size range.
I think it's a very good thing to see these things flex their muscles once in a while.

I have no intention of using the warranty for this. I have used it, but won't for this. But I do get what you mean, one is "enough" with the warranty to cover anyone for life. But that's why I like pairs. One to beat, and one to keep.

Yessir, I understand where you're coming from. I'd love to have one to keep all nice, just to fondle and show to company and one to wail on.
At one point I did have a few multiples, a few complete sets, etc. and I loved having them. I truly loved taking them out and just admiring the excellent craftsmanship... Busse knives have truly saved my ass a few times. In the sense you're thinking, yes. (Only one tool and MUST get the job done or big woes headed my way) But a few times they saved my ass by being so desirable that I could sell one and, for example, pay for my child's dental work. And I NEVER lost money.
But, at the same time, I regretted selling every single one! Every multiple, every member of a set... I never regretted buying any of them, but I damn sure regretted selling them.
