Made my first sling. Was pretty easy to make. Less than a half hour probably:

sling batter batter, sling batter batter... :D

looks good man, they're extremely functional no doubt.... I like them for a necker, little dangerous for a necker but nice as you can adjust height on torso...

finally got this finished and shipped out today, its been sitting on every spot of real estate on my work bench since Sept... luckily it was a trade with Balding Eagle and he was willing to wait practically forever with no stress... much respect for BE bigtime class all the way around....

MANchete Golok 13

thanks, I'll be posting a few more on my subforum... hopefully BE will furnish it with an even sicker sheath, can't wait to see what he comes up with...

cold.... lol, yeah I've always thought of the 5 as one sexy sucker.. but never had one, absolutely loved what tyrone did with his mod job... I plan to make it my own but not extreme, gonna use it to sorta side track me during this moving process.. I like mods, little here and there, not like the daunting task of building a knife...

and I may even make curly maple scales for it down the road... :)

can't wait..

At first I thought of it as an overbuilt filet knife, but the more I see them the more I love the lines and the flow of the knife. I am constantly changing what my next is going to be...2, 10, 14, 16.. too many choices :) Been trying to finish my AR build in the middle of the dry spell, so all my available money is sucked up buying triple overpriced parts. All that being said as soon as I can sell a couple of my other knives I am going to get a 15 to try out. Can't wait to see your mods, I was looking on your website and you have some really nice stuff, love that manchete.
I would love a pair of scales like my northstar has...

Nice sling Warrior, slings are a lot of fun. I never got as accurate with one as I am with bow or slingshot, but they are great for spooking game your way. You can lob a rock a couple hundred yards with little effort. I never tried one with paracord, great idea. I am going to have to make one this weekend too now, I recently got a bag of scrap leather to make a strop with and was trying to figure out something to do with all the small pieces. I always made a cup in the leather, like you would with a new baseball glove... kept me from dropping what ever I was throwing out the back.

thanks, yeah that website has been a thorn in my side since I put it up, its been like that for over a year now... I catch slack all the time for it just sitting there, something has to be done.. if I plan to actually start building knives again.....:)

yeah I can only imagine what parts cost for an AR build right now, gotta be completely crazy...

Well, when you start building again, you already have the domain name saved :)
I have been taking my time and looking for deals, but there are still gougers out there.. I paid through the nose for my matched upper and lower, but I have been taking my time on the rest. Last major part to find is the bolt carrier group or the unicorn as I have been calling it for a month now.

LOL, the unicorn... guess a few of them still float around from the '80's .. :D that's hilarious... .

yeah that's a positive, at least I have the domain.. :) I've had two domains before years ago that I wished I'd kept because they were pretty catchy (not knife related) and I let them expire only to watch them be sold :( had I known that I could of made about $1,500 ea.. .

drank a coke zero just now and I already have a headache, I have had about 10 since Jan 1st.. can't believe I used to drink 4 or 5 20 oz. bottles a day.

I tried the zero, didn't really care for it... dunno I think I even like the diet coke better...4-5 20z a day is pretty crazy, sure you've lost a little weight just cutting back on that..

I can stand Coke Zero a lot better than Diet Coke. Trouble is I can't seem to find it in a caffeine-free version. I've been avoiding caff as much as possible for the last couple years. I don't miss it at all and I sleep better at night. I should really just drink more water. Ice cubes in my bourbon counts, right? :D

Finally got my challenge knife finished up - just needs final sharpening. Angie's stitching up the sheath right now. She has some yummy treats ready for you rascals, too. If I don't eat 'em all first :p

So one of the physics teachers in my school almost set his classroom on fire, but also set the fire alarms off while there was a per school graduation going on. Oh and it was 45 degrees out and raining.Fun standing outside for half an hour it was...

Looking for lawn advice.

Have you guys had success using the "all-in-one" grass seed/mulch/fertilizer mixes or is it still best to use separate products? Not looking to re-seed an entire yard, just repair some patches in the yard.

Also, one section never seems to grow and keep grass as it's heavily shaded and ends up under-water when we get heavy rains. I joke that I'm just going to plant rice instead of grass.

What do you guys think?

I know some of you guys like to hang out on the weird site of the internet (Moose, C-bear? :D)... For those guys, put the following in the youtube search field: Best Song Ever Created Maximbady - Hey baby'. Be warned...

All of my wat. But soooo catchy :-)

I've never used the "all in one" products, but I imagine it is just a cost vs. convenience issue. If you have some straw and don't mind dealing with the components separately, that is probably the cheaper route. If the added convenience of buying only one item is worth the extra cost to you, the "all in one" product should be fine.

For fertilizer, you should only need a little Nitrogen. Impossible to say for sure without a soil test, of course, but if you are leaving the clippings on the lawn when you mow, Phosphorous and Potassium should not be diminished.

Try buying a shade-tolerant grass seed for your shady area. I'm not familiar with your turf species that far north, but a good seed store should have several options to match the seed variety to your lawn conditions.

cc, i'm furthest from a yard guru but know enough to be dangerous:)

first you want to distribute seed then aerate the yard or something like that to help keep the seed, and to oxygenate the yard.. for your bad spot you obviously need to grade it with some top soil/dirt then I would add kentucky blue grass or some type of fescue there...

then again I've always just dabbled, so your best friend once again may be google :)

Thanks guys, that kinda confirms what I was already thinking about the all-in-one stuff. Most places I've looked seem to give mixed reviews and it costs quite a bit more.

Ended up getting a small bag of Pennington "midwest mix" seed and another of deep shade along with some starter fertilizer. I always leave the clippings too. We'll see how it goes.

BC, as far as grading, to do it right at least, would be more of an undertaking than I care to do. The area is near the back corner and all three neighbors on that corner have the same issue.

This is a rental so I'm not looking for that much work :D

I want my minute back!

CC, Sorry I have NO clue about yard work. I've lived in an apartment building in downtowns for the last 5 years. I don't do yards. I was raised "doing grass is bad".
