this is a machete i am going to try and make based off the original MaTACT

its pretty simple but its what i want plus it will be my first attempt at knife makeing going to have it sent out for heat treat and i am going to use micarta becker handels. and do you thnk it would be hard to do that groove by hand with a dremel

I took the liberty of putting a notch back in there as well.

Funny, I hadn't even seen this thread before I started my BK9 Fighter project (there's a thread for it in this forum). I took the thumb ramp off, made the clip more pronounced, sharpened the clip, and that's where it sits now. Couple more surprises in the works. I love it when great minds think alike.

I can't take credit for that man, that is all SilentJohn, I just made a few very, very minor cosmetic tweaks to it.

My only real contributions to this thread are these so far:

I like it, but I would go without that extra bit of meat at the back of the blade towards the end.

What you should do is see about etching in the chain, that would be much, much easier, and would probably look nicer too. As far as the fuller, that would be one heck of a thing to grind out by hand. A mill bit would make short work of it though, and most machine shops should be able to do something there for that. I would definitely look into that, otherwise you are going to spend a lot of time with a dremel.

How thick of stock are you looking at? It is going to be a heavy piece of metal, but all kinds of sweet.

3/16 to 1/4 keeping it in line with becker thickness

and you dont think the extra wideness at the end will help with chopping?

Keep the weighted forward end, but I would take the grind a little higher, to make a better cutter, and it will reduce some of the weight.
