Went out to the Awendaw passage of south caorlina's Palmetto Trail. It was a gorgeous day, plenty of sunshine, mid 50s. I knocked out 8.5miles and feel great.

Total BP=47

5 miles of walking/running intervals for 5 bp.

Brings my total to 52 BPs! Whoo! Hit my 50 bp for January :D

This challenge thread has been a fun motivator for me. I'd like to say a big thanks to everyone who participates and makes it what it is.

Congrats Garnet and Black! I was keeping up with you for a while there.. :) Looks like I will be able to hit it by the end of the week..

1 mile walk on Hills (upped my level too) = 1 point
8 mile bike ride on random hills = 2 points
1/2 mile finish walk on intervals = .5

Looks like I'll be 2 runs short this month. I twisted my ankle on Saturday, and was hoping for a final Wednesday and Friday run, but it's still not healed enough for high impact running.

15 minute warm up before weights - 3/4 mile on treadmill = .7
1/4 mile of step boxes during circuit training.. = .2

44.4 total to date

5K here Sunday - entirely indoors in the caves north of the Missouri River. Unique event as far as I know, with thousands of runners winding their way through the labarynthian cave in 70 degree temperatures. 26.3 points so far in January.

Doggone, I worked weird hours then got lazy, so I'll have to post serious numbers the next two days to hit 50 points.

1-26
Walked 0.9 miles, 0.9 BPs

1-29
Biked on exercycle (again) for 14 miles; 3.5 BPs

Current Total
39.85

Dang, that sucks! You heal your ankle, hopefully my elbows will fully heal, and we'll reconvene for a true challenge!

That sounds truly awesome! Unless it get stuffy. Even so, I'd do a cave run.

...That brings it up to an even 50 BP.

Yesterday I ran 9.5 miles (I'll just call it 9 for now) some on trails and some on the road. I was trying to find a trail that would connect two sets of trails. The hills around where I live are covered in a spider web of trails and if you don't know where you are going you can easily get lost (lost in the sense of not knowing where you are while on the trail but as soon as you get out to the roads it's easy to know where you are.) When I came out of the trails I was on the wrong side of the mountains (really just big, steep hills) and it was dark. So I ran home on the road. My run wasn't as successful as I had hoped but it was still a good run on the trails.

Yesterday's 9 brings me up to 59 BP for the month.

Here's a few photos of Jinmu-ji Temple, a temple I ran through on yesterday's trail run.

A 5K in caves sounds cool.

A 5K in caves does sound cool.

Quick Question:

Would it be best to simply edit the title to "February" when the month rolls around?
We could start posting points accrued by event, month, and overall for the year.

Example for February:
3 mile run. 3 BP earned.
3 BP for month. 56 BP for 2014.

Or I could just lock it down and start a new thread for February. What say folks?

Hopefully the good habit is sticking! knocked out another 2.5 miles of jogging/walking today for a total of 54.5 BPs

Thanks man! your posts, as well as others, have motivated me to stick with it and get my rear in gear.

I'm partial to beginning a new thread for each month. It seems to me it'll be easier to keep track of that specific month's numbers when the month has its own thread. I also like the idea of a fresh start each month, but with a running total. Perhaps the thread should have that month's name in it, though - Move Your Butt in February Challenge, for instance.

Okay, I'll probably lock this one down tomorrow night, and I'll crank up a new one come Feb. 1.

I like the idea of keeping a running total, but after thinking about it some, I think starting a new thread every month may help tempt some new people to kick it off and there won't be any "old timers" with 500+ points discouraging any new people from giving it a try...

2 mile walk on treadmill, hills = 2
6 mile bike ride on intervals = 1.5

3.5 + 44.4 = 47.9 ttd

I guess I will do cardio tomorrow too so I can close this one out...

15 minute warm up before weights - 3/4 mile on treadmill = .7
1/4 mile of step boxes during circuit training.. = .2

44.4 total to date

I think I agree with this. The point is a monthly challenge that anybody can join. A fresh start each month may also keep people who are participating motivated. At the end of the year there could be a tally thread to total up the year. Each participant could search back through each month's thread for their end of the month total and post the annual total at the end of December or beginning of January.

... 59 BP for the month...

Today I was able to get 8 more miles.
That brings me up to 67 BP for the month. Actually I've been rounding down for with to make the number whole. My actual milage for the month is: 69.56 miles.

Dang! I just realized I'm less than half a mile from 70 miles. I hate it when that happens.
