Well, I made it California, but have little to no internet. They want $11 a day for internet access. What a ripoff.

Moose

Just steal interwebz from a neighbor. Or are you in a hotel. Damn, I really am lost today..

Yeah, screw that. They wanted $12.95/night at the Mariott Marquis a couple of weeks ago in a $200/night room.
It was bad enough having to tip every time I turned around. I just used my phone for the Interwebz.

I would also like to hear the precautionary tale of the axe.

Also, i weighed my bk2(424g) and my bk9(475g). The 2 isn't too much lighter than the 9

Oh, and btw, i'd like to get rid of my bk9 including the new leather sheath and trade it for a bk2. I hope it is ok to post this here. The bk9 is just too big and heavy for what i can do with it. If anyone is interested please send me an email. If it is not ok to post this here, im very sorry, but i can't afford gold right now.

Take care

Maethor

I'll help you out with that. E-mail sent.

After dinner some night set all the plates down on the ground and let the dog lick them all clean. Then put them back up into the cabinet without washing them. Make sure they see you do it, but don't make a big deal about it.

That would be funnier than all get out. I might do that one day, but i'd probably get yelled at by my wife. lol :D

Wow, GoNadz, you're part Austrian/german? That's funny. I'm half austrian too. Sadly, I am fed antibiotics 3 times a day, so no beer for me. You know, antibiotics are like a quad damage powerup for alcohol. I asked the nurse if i can get a hefeweizen here somewhere, but she said i can't drink.

Take care

Hey maethor, get well soon Brother. I don't follow this thread so I just found out that you got hurt. Sorry to hear about it. Anxious to see how you're going to compete in the challenge. If you get your entry in in time, you should get extra points for sheer tenacity!

Don't you guys hate it when you lose a knife? My little Case trapper disappeared recently and it is definitely not in any of the 100+ places I looked. Some schmuck probably just picked it up and ran away to Mexico/Canadia with it. Meh.

What awesome bit of equipment have you lost?

I recently lost a Case folder as well, I've pretty much given up on finding it though. Hope you find your knife soon.

But just think how refreshing that first beer will taste, once you're done with the antibiotics!

I'll tell you what, Maethor, OP has a good point. Keeping a positive attitude will probably help you recover even faster. In the meantime, I'll be sure to pick up your slack, brother! :p

I have experience in this area.

Not only medical, but geographic. I have literally been stuck in places where I was not allowed to have a beer. For MONTHS ... imagine!!!

Tradewater, yes it did. The axe was slightly turned when it hit the tree, steel hit fresh wood and bounced off. Bam. The good news is that I'll be out in a few hours. I'm just waiting for the doctor to get the paperwork done. The wound is healing up nicely, roughly twice as fast as expected. Call me Wolverine, I have mutant healing abilities.

I know the weight of the 9 and the 2 aren't that much of a difference, but with the leather sheath my 9 weighs about the same as my fiskars x10, wich will outdo the 9 i everything i can imagine (except for food prep and probably digging). I noticed I'm just not comfortable with a blade this size. Big knives aren't for me. I'm an axe guy.

Nothing wrong with knowing your limits bro, puts you a step ahead of the game. Good luck on the recovery, and take it easy. Plenty of time to work on that April challenge!

Whew, I'm back home. First part of my contest entry will be up in the next few hours.

Thank you all so much for your concern and your kind words. This forum really helped me pass the time in the hospital.

I'll look for it tonight after work.

Thank you LastDaze, I am recovering well. I am with my family for easter, I'm sitting in a deck chair 60ft from the tree that fragged my knee. Well, actually 60ft from where the tree stood. The wind finished it off, and it even took half of two apple trees out which I hate with every living fiber in my body. So, I am quite happy with the result :D

My mother is mad at me. Because I destroyed her beautiful apple trees :D

Take care
