6th from the left - holy sharpened spatula, batman! or maybe that's a canoe paddle.

Wow, kudos to you for that 10/22... I wish I was allowed to own a gun. If I was, it would be a good old Ruger 10/22, refurbished by Flexxx.

just a head's up...save your park ranger's # in your cell too in case 911 fails to answer in an emergency while out hiking. took a quick hike earlier today to blow off some stress and i come back to my truck with this damage :(

4runner_hit_and_run_01.jpg

according to a witness, the lady who hit my truck pretended to leave a note but didn't so the witness instead left me a note with a partial info.

i tried to contact 911 over the span of 15 min but couldn't (it would ring once and then busy signal). it's really no big deal but with my luck lately i bet that lady will try to file a claim and might blame me so i wanted a police report to back me up. i ended up taking my trail map out and saw a # there so i called that and reached the park police with that and he showed up after 5 min or so of me hanging up.

anyway, looking at it from the bright side, now i know to save the park ranger's # in my cell and try that first before dialing 911. they'll most likely be contacted by 911 anyway in an emergency since they'll know the area much better and this might just save valuable time in a true emergency! just a head's up.

well, i was going to hit the strip joint later tonight but looks like i'm paying for a new bumper so i'll grab a hooker instead :D

Good gouge. Wouldn't have thought of that.
Hope you get your truck fixed back up.

i'd be looking for a mercedes for a while ;)

that should pull right out ;) seriously, plastic? take it off, heat gun, and smack, pop it the other way.

save some money for a GOOD hooker. maybe even your preferred gender ;)

based on the description, she's driving a ~$50k+ benz...the damage on my truck is only $400 tops - sofa cushion change for her. sad thing is she might never hike there again (this state park is the best in any 3 hr radius drive i've been on) or she'll go through the hassle of using a different car every time she's anywhere near the area (not that many sky blue benz coupes, heck even in nyc that combo is rare). i'm a car guy so lots of car friends are already on a 6-pack reward alert

i know the trails very well, had she done the right thing i would be so impressed by her honesty she would've had me as a tour guide of the state park for life....some people can be too short-sighted sometimes. i hate to think what she'd do if she hit a hiker crossing the road...she did teach me a priceless lesson on contacting the park ranger over 911 first though so for that i'm thankful.

what the! for the record, if she's biologically female then i'm good. just like knives, whether it be a mora or custom, if it cuts what i wanted to cut then i'm all good  i'll give you a tour of brooklyn and the russian hotties with "student visas" in exchange for a becker knife or two when you visit nyc :D

thanks. looking back on it, had it been a real emergency i would've been screwed so i did learn a valuable lesson for the future. let's just say we have a habit of packing more booze than water on our overnighters :D

i hope this won't turn into a political debate since i'm just saying what i noticed...i stopped-by campmor yesterday to buy a bigger tarp and food - next thing i know i end up with more stuff i really don't need :o anyway, i'm surprised all of them except the red stuff bag (made in china) are all made in the usa.

it sucks that campmor is located directly on the route i take to my favorite state park to hike in. after every time i hike i have that urge to buy more gear. maybe i can ask them to put a restraining order on me so i can save money for once!

Their website has been the bane of my wallet here lately. Stupid good deals!

One of these days I"ll have to take a trip down there. I've found recently that the REI store in Norwalk, CT is pretty friggin sweet.

looks like i lucked out. i was waiting for the bushcraftusa 10'x10' tarp to come in but campmor had it so i picked it up without reading the description. it turns out it has 21 tabs spread out all over the place and fire retardant to boot...this will make for some interesting shelter configs that i want to try out soon...i think i'm going to get sick come monday...cough, cough.

it's only 5 mi away or so from the tappan zee bridge turn that you take. be forewarned, treat campmor like a strip joint - leave your atm card behind and just bring cash, unless you're prepared to spend 3x what you originally intended :D

Aw yeah, Campmor is awesome for scoring loads of good stuff for cheap. My only objection is the catalogs they seem to mail out every third day

Which tarp is that? I have the 10x10 I ordered from there and it has grommets. I want that one.

I managed to find Campmor (in Paramus, NJ, right?) one time when I was up visiting my wife's uncle in... heck, can't remember the place now... it was near Morristown. Anyway, AWESOME place, and great deals.
