Beckerhead Gear

Oh, you wanted designs for Firesteel stuff? Oh my bad. Let me just go and get that for you right quick.

Kidding. Give me a day or so. Got a busy weekend ahead of me and it takes me a bit to get something worked up. Also need to have a decent starting point visualized, so maybe sketch up something like what you would like.

Will do thanks...

NP. If you are getting a mill, you might be able to help me out with a two year project I have been working on, in which case I would 3D whatever you want for perpetuity.

I'm not for sure about the mill yet. (expensive)

If so I would help, just let me know what it is.

I just skimmed this thread.
Am I right in thinking we're getting Becker thermal detonators?
That's cool right there.

Lets see ESEE top that. Although, Jeff might comeout with an ESEE Plasmablaster like Han solo had, Rowen made of course.

Hurry, hurry, hurry! I can hear the California lesgislators drawing up the 'Thermal Detonator ban of 2011' as we speak.

I love how this thread started out one way and has gone a completely different now.

Derailed? I think not, here are the dimensions I first gave Flexxx for the kit. 3" long 1" OD tube, 3/4" ID, threaded but cap, with a groove for an O ring. I would like to see it sealed at the bottom, tapered front, with a 3/8" hole for epoxying in a GG firesteel.

Textured outter, and a finger groove along the tapered front. Stainless steel was my preference, I like tough stuff.

Moose, am I correct in guessing your super awesome mod powers have kicked in? Your name, 'tis all red.

Show me something similar or sketch me something on a napkin so I have an idea as to what you are driving at.

I just downloaded some free cad/cam and am working on the moose disign...
I will show pics ASAP.

So, given your measurements, something like this? (Keep in mind, rough draft. I am eating pizza.) With an end cap that fits over the end, texturing, and a groove on the beveled front part, etc...

Yar, me mod powers be kickin'. Like hot sauce and chicken.

As far as the sketch, think ESEE fire kit, but more moosely. I break stuff real easy, ask Mistwalker, he's been my gear pimp here lately.

YES!!!!!!!! THATS IT!!!

But I need a 1/2" wide groove across the fron taper, but yeah, thats pretty much it.

Welp boss, you want more Moosely, it is gunna have to be a bigger OD than 1" if you want a .75" inner chamber.

Minus the inner chamber, that leaves us with .25" for the walls. That is .125" for wall on each side. That is .0625" for wall that is half that to accomodate a lid, and even less for something threaded.

1 1/8" might work. Not really sure though. Never done threads before on something.

I actually imagined the threads being cut in the ID, I figured 1/4" of difference in the OD/ID would render 1/8" thick walls, plenty of room for threads, but hey, ya'll go this on lock, I'm just the motivator.

Actually, all Beckerheads need to weigh in on this, as, it will be an item we will have access too, thanks to Mr. Flexxx.

I'm not saying we want to copy the K&M design, but I do want to inject it into this conversation as a high standard in the match case game. I know it's not a fire steel, but it is a simple mechanism that is waterproof and well designed. It simply has a dual o-ring design. The cord when twisted around the barrel, keeps the cap from coming off. I have a couple. Here's the best pic I have of one though.

Thats the texture I would like to have on the outside of the capsule.
