Beckerhead Knife Making and Modification Thread

Thanks gents! Not sure on the first victim, but I am going to take it camping in a couple weeks for playtime :D

Lee, if they are just compression rivets it should be pretty easy to pop them off. Not sure about that brand, but all the Old Hickory use this type of fastener, more commonly called "cutlery rivets"

Let us know how it goes!

aaah, cleavers are so much fun, ain't they? handle mod & etch on this one for a friend

After those 2 I got a bad craving for vintage USA cleavers and right now have 4 waiting for handles and a finished one that needs to pose for pics.

On another note... It feels good to be back in orange! I will be posting stuff soon in the exchange, 10 % off to BHs & KB Krew.

Good stuff! Cleavers are always yummie. I have two from my grandmother of which one even belonged to her ancestors, I think. I made a thread about them a looong time ago. Nice restorations on these!

I have some more to play with, they are indeed something else; I'll snap some more pics tomorrow

Woah!
Don't go near any axes, it might be years before you resurface!

Anybody here like O1? ;)
This little guy is ready for a sheath and edge:

good stuff, daiz, I like how the brass matches the green. I'm avoiding axes and swords, but boy oh boy the temptation is strong.

It worked perfectly, I got the "top" pins out like you showed in your work through and then drove the bigger pin part out with a punch. Here is a pic so far, I just lightly sanded it with 600 grit to get the crusted on whatever-it-was off of it.

Way cool! Can't wait to see what you do with it :)

Don't think I posted this here yet, but since the cleavers are coming out, here's a little one I put together just before we moved in June.

That's awesome!
I think you should make a pocket-sized one so you can carry it every day.

Thanks and LOL. I guess I didn't add anything for scale. It is pocket sized, and I do carry it quite a bit.

edit: for a sense of scale

I got my steel and belts in the mail. The O1 Wednesday and the 1084 today. Waiting for my wood scale material to come Tuesday but that won't stop me from getting started. I've got lots of work ahead of me.

Sure thing! working the steel will take most of your time, by the time handle material arrives you might not be done with it yet.
