Beckerhead "Spartan" Fitness Challenge GAW Round 2 is Live!

Awesome!

We had rain which then froze over and then we got a dusting of snow :( looks like we finally found winter here.

Did P90X chest and back today. Been alternating that with my krav workout. Hopefully I can stick it out til the end of march at least.

myb: +2.5 = 26.5
bsp: +4.5 = 27.5 Legs and stretching!

myb: +2.5 = 29
bsp: +1.5 = 29 - push up day, good workout but ran out of time before I could do abs and arms, hopefully I get some time after work to up this a bit!

Got out for a 4.1 mile walk last night. Rain stopped and it was a ridiculous 52°F. Shorts in January, & I didn't even need to get the winter shorts. I'm gonna try and catch that wagon.....
MYB: 4.1

1400m swim today after shooting 60 arrows. I was having such a good time shooting (plus I was outside and it wasn't too cold) that I accidentally cut my pool time a little short. Worth it, though. Getting the hang of the new bow.

This was the last round at 30 yds.

Might actually be ready for deer season this year.

MYB: 3.5+4.1=7.6
Now to get back on the push-up thang.

5 hours of Krav between Sat, Tues, and this morning, MYB + 25. I'll rack those up quickly, it looks like, at the 12 min per point rate.

Glad to see this still going :).

I'm sad to report that I dropped the 100 pushups thing. I stuck with it for a good few weeks, but was not quite consistent enough with it to break through the end of week 5's tests. Then when I left for the holidays, things got crazy as they always do.

I didn't stop doing pushups (I still do them every day or two, at least 30 per set), and hope to get back into it, but I realize I'm not really going to qualify for the challenge on this, which is actually ok in my book.

I'm not sure when my last update was on the MYB points, but I've still been active, which is the whole point of all of this right? I've played futsal, rode my bike to work every day, still do longer rides throughout the week. When I was on vacation for the holidays we went on multiple walks, a few hikes, I helped hang a livestock gate, reorganized the furniture in 3 rooms of my parents house, put away all their christmas stuff in the attic for them, etc.

The bottom line for me personally is that I ended the year a few lbs lower than the year before (~4lbs... which I realize isn't huge. I'm ~6ft 1in, and ~195lbs). So I'm calling it a win for myself anyway :p.

Good luck to everyone, and congrats on keeping up the activity level. The trick is maintaining it, and making it a lifestyle (my wife is a nutritionist, she says that all the time), so then you stay at your "new" normal.

Cheers!

:D I'm currently celebrating my day of rest with a day away from the new diet  Caved in and got pizza for everybody today... and am currently washing it down with a rum and coke (I know, not the greatest). This was all stirred about by looking at the scale yesterday morning. Due to the new diet I was down to 202 (5lbs under what I weighed in as at the end of the first challenge). Will get back on track tomorrow, with how I'm currently feeling.... its going to be an early bed time hah! need these nights every now and again to stay on track.

Are we counting classes as a whole (so 60 minute class = 5 points)? I've only been counting sparring minutes.

EDIT: I've been counting drills during class (arm bar, triangles, takedowns, etc.) as one light rep each, so I won't double dip and count those as MYB as well. I'll only count my sparring for MYB.

14.08 BSP to date.
5.08 MYB to date.

AM BJJ and afternoon circuits.

1040 light = 5.2 BSP
32 minutes sparring = 2.66 MYB

19.28 BSP to date.
7.74 MYB to date.

No, sparring minutes is where it's at. In my case, the entire class was spent sparring for the last 3. I'm pretty wiped out.

myb: +3.5 = 32.5
bsp: +2 = 31

myb: +2 = 34.5
bsp: +2 = 33 - Had my son talking to me while trying to count reps. Threw off my count (didn't count those) ended up getting a little aggravated, then laughed and took it as a sign to stop for the day hehe. Time to get on with my day!

: 53.5
100 pushups..
I will figure these in more later, I need to turn in early tonight.
Okay, so. I did 50 light reps with 20 lb weights. (Probably more than this, but I am lowballing.)
I will have to really get back into this. I have been busy with stuff lately and or just not exercising.

Did another hour and a half of Krav yesterday, but only about an hour of sparring or high activity exercise. +5 more MYB.

2000 meters in the pool tonight. Might have to look at 200 situps. Not sure I can continue with the pushups. They kinda hurt my shoulders.

MYB: 7.6 + 5 = 12.6

Not sure if this helps, but it may be possible that you're doing them too far "up". I've had shoulder pain when bench pressing and doing pushups before, and that's what I noticed that I was doing.

Its kind of hard to explain, but I mostly noticed it when I found myself getting tired with my main/mid chest, and would start trying to "cheat" with my shoulders, making the bar go closer to the top of my shoulders. While you're not holding a bar while doing a pushup, I've noticed myself doing the same thing, and have to keep forcing myself to move the "invisible bar" farther down my chest, which has helped my shoulders a lot. This "may" be what your doing, but then again it "may" not.

But man, you're killing it on the swimming Granite :).
