Beckerhead "Spartan" Fitness Challenge GAW Round 2 is Live!

24.5+3+2=29.5 MYB

The push-ups are giving me muscles, it's kinda cool. Except it's harder to shave my armpits! XD

That's awesome....though I will say taken out of context it sounds like it might be something bad....
Good perspective, though. I personally never worry about shaving my armpits and would never have considered that particular downside of enlarged pectorals.

Finally started back in with pushups tonight. Week 3, column 3, day one. Even made a couple over the max. Is it odd that the first couple pushups in each set hurt the most?

MYB: 7.6 + 5 = 12.6

Week 3, day 2, col. 3 and managed to do 28½ for the 25+ max. Surprising, as I thought my elbows were going to throw a tie rod during the first set.
Also ice skated outside yesterday for an hour. -10°F windchill and I still managed to break a little sweat. I'm guessing it was the upwind portion of each lap that did it.

MYB: 12.6+4=16.6

myb: 43.5
bsp: 41.5!

myb: +2 = 45.5
bsp: +2 = 43.5

kids... spreaders of disease. fml. my youngest contracted 'hand foot and mouth disease' (its viral). I'm guessing it was from daycare, they say its common this time of year. well take a guess who's never had that in his life before, and is now breaking out and looks like he has leprosy? yay for the week off work... but man this sucks. The only thing I can do to stop thinking about how much my hands hurt is walking on the treadmill. Me thinks I'll be visiting it a few times today...

Lol Cap, I'd say that's a fair trade off (muscles for the inability to shave). Time to start using a straight razor!

GSOM, I'm surprised with all the swimming you do, you've never gone full dolphin - snark :)

Had another buddy who got hand foot and mouth disease a few years ago. He was pretty unhappy too. Hope you heal quickly.

Thanks CF its definitely not fun :(

And I take back my previous statement, my feet just broke out....no more treadmill for me today!

Hope you heal quickly, TBL. That sounds gross :P

Calisthenics and drills for 250 L = 1.25 BSP
BJJ sparring for 24 min = 2 MYB

When I do my kettlebell HIITs, it's movement for 2-5 minutes depending on format, and then a brief break, and then rinse and repeat format. I've been counting reps this whole time, but would you guys think that is more appropriate for MYB over BSP for tracking? Either way works for me. I do the HIITs for conditioning via resistance training, so the lines are kind of blurred.

This should be a lesson to you - keep your hands & feet out of your mouth...;) I hope you get better soon, brother.

+5 more MYB today for a TTD of 41. Total BSP thus far at 45. I think this current routine might actually get me to Spartan levels.

OHP, squats, and some light accessory work.

200 L = 1 BSP
20 H =0.4 BSP

and an easy 12 minutes yoga to cool down for 1 MYB.

If it weren't for the challenge, I'd only spend about 1 or 2 minutes to stretch it out. Glad the incentive is there to spend more time for proper recovery.

Dayum, Queth! There are a lot of thingys on that bar! It looks really heavy ;).

Thanks! I dropped it to 90% of what it was because I missed a few reps on a couple of workouts. Going to slowly make my way back up, I'm in no rush. Hopefully 2016 will be the year of 400 for me.

Been feeling like crap, so did some yoga with the wife today (3 more MYB points worth), and felt much better after. Wrung all kinds of crap out of my body. Still feeling a bit under the weather, but better.

Well, I think the whole point is for you to barely make it. If you're doing it easily, you're doing the wrong column. So, good job doing it right!

Yep, I work at a fitness studio that focuses on strength and conditioning through kettlebells and, for those who crave extra iron in their diet, powerlifts.

1600m in the pool tonight

Did W3:D3:C3 of 100 pushups last night. Barely made the max at the end. Still.....

2400m in the pool this morning. I think I understand the armpit shaving thing, Cap. I'm having trouble wielding the deodorant myself. I need to do some more stretching.
MYB: 6+20.6=26.6 BP TTD

This is so cool! It's really neat that she's got such a good influence and will be equipped with skills to take care of herself for the rest of her life.

haha! yeah, stretching is important. The shaving thing really has to do with the slight muscle definition in my pecs/arms making it so my pits are less flat when I hold up my arm and the slight contours make it harder to shave. lol just typing this makes me feel silly. It's hardly a difference really, I haven't hulked out or something, but I do have a little more muscle. It's pretty neat.

Anywho, I'm going to try and start doing some light running this week. I've been swimming, power walking, hiking, ellipticaling, and other cardio for MYB but I'm really wanting to get back to running. Might do just short bits of running and walking combos until I know I can push myself without hurting my hip.

29.5 +2 = MYB 31.5

Shot about 50 arrows this afternoon then went skating for an hour or so. Worked up quite a sweat.

MYB: 26.6+4=30.6

Cap: for me it's the pecs and the shoulder muscles being tight that make it hard to reach across to the other pit.
