Beckerhead "Spartan" Fitness Challenge GAW Round 2 is Live!

Went to my Krav Maga combatives class today, and followed up with some weights (bench, curls, dips, military press, pullups, shoulder flys-front and side). Did get my finger jammed hard because I took a hook punch to the finger. Hopefully it doesn't keep swelling.
 
Also worth mentioning that if you have aches and pains, yoga is pretty amazing. Not just for chicks, although if you happen to like the yoga pants fashion, there ARE advantages to taking a formal class.
Yoga is for everyone! I still have a hard time trusting the dudes who sit in the back of the class... :P

Okay I did my HIIT bodyweight stuff today.

Medicine ball squat & press 15x2
Knee ups 30x2
Ab bikes 40x2
Lunges with 10lb weights 24x2
Burpees 10x2
Sit-ups 15x2
Step-ups 30
Total = 298
so that's 1.49 BSP!

Awesome job so far everyone :) My reps on the pushup workouts are so low that it's barely worth adding them up... Maybe I'll add them in weekly haha!

Got out for a 2.5 mile walk tonight with a 10 lb. backpack. It's 70°F. In New Hampshire. In November. I was sweating in shorts and a t-shirt. Climate change is a total lie :rolleyes:.

I just did a 3.5 mile with my toddler on my back! its currently 52F out and on and off sprinkles. I was sweating in a long sleeve shirt and shorts lol.

MYB: 18.5
BSP: 8.5 +2 = 10.5

Kettlebell metcon to get the blood going, followed by some powerlifting and a few chin- and pull-ups.

325 light = 1.625 BSP
25 medium = 0.25 BSP
8 heavy = 0.16 BSP
1 very heavy = 0.033 BSP

14.911 + 2.068 = 16.979 BSP to date.

Calisthenics for warm ups, sandbags for resistance.

450 light = 2.25 BSP
125 medium = 1.25 BSP

16.979 + 3.5 = 20.479 BSP to date.
 
Finished week 1 of pushup n situp challenge. Chest and abs are sore, but it's going well. Walked almost 6 miles today also.
 
Sunday's are my rest days, but today I decided to test my max push-up to see where I would be starting this week. I got 60 out before collapsing, so this week I'll be trying week 6. I'm going to try to keep in column 3, but I am pretty tired lol. Going to take it easy the rest of the day and try to get to bed right after Walking Dead :D

I actually got a comment from my wife this morning too... she said she is starting to see a bit of a difference (I'm guessing in a good way). I told her it was all crimsonfalcon's fault :D

Starting to do more research into HIIT. Found some really interesting studies done on people who participate in that kind of training (the effect on muscle tissue and the way the body communicates with itself). Did a 4 hour active shooter seminar yesterday. Lots of good stuff, and quite a bit of exercise. More pushups and situps and some yoga planned for today.

-edit- Pushups completed, and managed a 2 minute front bridge. Still gotta get some yoga in; flexibility is an issue.

Open mat during my lunchtime. Everyone stretched out and warmed up on their own, no formal calisthenics, and then we went straight into an hour of rolls. No points from BJJ today.



Round 2, late afternoon workout. 17 minute kettlebell metcon followed by deadlifts. Deload week for the bar, which means metcons and rolls will be hit extra hard since I should have more gas in the tank.



20.479 BSP to date.

376 light = 1.88 BSP
84 medium = 0.84 BSP

20.479 + 2.72 = 23.199 BSP to date.

Okay I'm confusing myself by posting in the MYB thread and this one so I'm gonna pull my 2.5 points from over there, plus from today:

3miles on foot = 3 points
15 squat&press
15 tricep dips
24 commandos
20x2 leg lifts
20 sit ups
30 mountain climbers
15 pushups

So total BP 11.47. You guys are kicking butt, I gotta step up my game!
 
Not sure how to calc BSP....whatever. Started week three again tonight for 100 push-ups. Managed 19 max (column 2, 17 min) so was OK with that...Anywho, got some points in the MYB thread; try to post them tomorrow (hoping to get a ride in before the rain). And Cap, I'm not kicking ass......tho I think the reverse is VERY true.....I'm getting my ass kicked! You can still step up your game if'n you want, though.

So.....does leaf blowing/sucking in the dark with a headlamp while normal people are relaxing in front of the tube count? Did that come out the way I meant it? I'm sure my neighbors were wondering what the hell was going on.
 
BSP and pushups are separate ways to score points. BSP was just added in for those folks who don't want to score points via pushups/situps. If you two are keeping up with those, you'll do just fine.

Round 1: lunchtime jits. Calisthenics for 150 light reps. We also did takedown and partner drills, but I forgot to count. Ended the class with 5 rounds of 4 minute rolls (sparring) with 30 second breaks.




Round 2: afternoon kettlebells and powerlifting. Easy 14 minute metcon and a deload benchpress, topped off with pull ups and chin ups for 270L and 68M.

23.199 BSP to date.

150L + 270L = 370 L = 1.85 BSP
68M = 0.68 BSP

2.53 BSP for the day.

23.199 + 2.53 = 25.729 BSP to date.

Is there a consensus on sparring for points?

100 light reps during calisthenics pre-sparring during jits. Sparred for 5 rounds of 4 minutes, with 30 seconds of rest in between.

25.729 + 0.5 = 26.229 BSP to date.

With Wednesday comes pushup/situp #2 of week 2. Did really good on pushups, but accidentally used the wrong column on situps, so when it came time for my final rep, I didn't come close to making the minimum. Still a good workout, but my abs are screwed!! :eek:
