Beckerhead "Spartan" Fitness Challenge GAW Round 2 is Live!

MYB: +4.5 miles = 56
BSP: 46.5

Well I got home from work today and had some energy. My oldest decided to come with me for my trek. He put on his backpack and filled it with bottles of water then hopped on his bike. I followed behind him on foot. Its amazing how much of a motivator my son was to me today lol. Every time I started to slow down he would say 'daddy, your muscles are going to start shrinking if you slow down!' haha. Little drill Sargent there! normally I would power walk most of it or do it at a slight jog. He kicked my ass into doing it 15 min faster then my previous best time. I'm so tired now lol
Seeing you work out with your kids is one of the cutest things I have ever seen. Keep it up.

Agreed, Zemapeli. TBL has some pretty great stories.

I put in an hour and a half doing focus mitt combos. Shoulders are pretty dead after. Also some assorted squats, situps, pushups, etc. I may double BSP, since I don't know that anyone is going to hit 200 BSP. And honestly, this doesn't count as a Spartan challenge if there aren't 300 points, right? Those of you who are doing pushups/situps may be on track still; hard to tell so far. Who else thinks Cap is going to hit her first full pushup by the end of this next week?

Thanks guys! I can see my oldest (pictured in my avatar) as being a great partner for exercise. He has so much energy and loves to copy me. I'm sure if I nurture this, he will be pushing me to stay on track!

Well, I've thought of what you said the other day to Cap. When starting off doing the push-up challenge the reps should count in a different category (because of their difficulty). Doing just the push-up challenge from start to finish, if you counted all the reps at the beginning as hard maxs and then medium as they progressed; would potentially get you to your 200 (or very close). Mix that in with some extra sort of exercise your 'rest' day from push-ups and you could get the 200 to make up the BSP portion of the challenge. This is why I like how you said at the beginning that we had a choice to do the push-up challenge (measured in over all improvement) or BSP:thumbup:. I think I would need another 6 months or so of training in order to push out 200bps in 2 months hehe. That's a goal to work towards on my end!

I'll one up ya CF I think she'll be able to smash out 3 or more! C'mon Cap!

BSP: 46.5

MYB: +4.5 = 60.5
BSP: +1 =47.5

I tried to get a little more BSP this morning but I decided to do things a little out of order. I started with breakfast before my workout which I normally have after my workouts. The combination of feeling heavy + being tired from being up in the night with the baby has killed my energy. I couldn't get the reps out for the last 3 sets :( I did the sets but couldn't make the reps. I decided to try to make up for it! I packed up the little ones in the stroller and went on the same trip as yesterday!

This is when we got stopped at a light

Having the stroller pull me down hills and then pushing it up was rough! (I deflated the tires a little bit to make it harder to push too tee hee derp!)

68.775 BSP to date.

Started the grind early this week. I really need to shed weight for the tournament, and I've made a few mis steps during the week on my diet. I've got plenty of ground to make up.

47 minute MetCon for 1060 light reps = 5.3 BSP.

68.775 + 5.3 = 74.075 BSP to date.

Story of my life brother! the only time I have any real success in dieting is when my wife is along for the ride. That way we take turns cooking and supporting the good eating habits. This time of year is crazy hard to stay on track.

Best of luck!

74.075 BSP to date.

No one opened for open mat, so no jits today.

Deload week. Less stress under the bar, but more conditioning.

520 light = 2.6 BSP
75 medium = 0.75 BSP

3.32 BSP for the day.

74.075 + 3.32 = 77.395 BSP to date.

Hit my 100+ MYB points yesterday after a 31 mile bike ride. MYB: 103.5 BP TTDftSC. Just did day 2 of W4, C1 for 100 push-ups. Every one of those I do seems like I can't finish....and then I do - barely. Hoping for the best....Also shot 60 arrows yesterday....not for points, but it sure does work a very specific muscle set. Hard to hold it together the last couple of ends.

Those pushup exercises are designed so you'll be barely able to finish them, and not at all if you aren't 100% there mentally. So you're doing it right for maximum results.

Good to know.....but it still feels, ah....daunting, I guess. I hit the second set and think, "how the hell am I going to be able to do "x" at the end of this?" Then I take the rest, and....surprise myself - most days. I think I'm in a more appropriate column the second time through week 4. The initial test and the max test at the end of week 2 I barely made it into the column it said I should be in, and I started failing the max at the end of each set. Still don't know how I'm gonna get to 100 at the end of this.

MYB: +2 = 62.5
BSP: +4.5 = 52 Leg day Rawr! stairs and sitting are going to suck later :(

MYB: +2 = 64.5
BSP: +1 = 53 - Did my push-ups today. Still cant finish the max set at the end by the time I get to rep 15 my arms just buckle lol. I will get there!

You'll get it Mike, you have the drive to get there, your body will just have to follow. I'm on a different week but in the same boat. I just turn up the music and get my body off the ground!

Did week 4, day 3, column 1 of the 100 push-up challenge. Even made it to 22 on the max at the end (20+ goal), surprising myself. Decided to go a little faster and not concentrate on form so much. Seems like taking advantage of the momentum worked. Thanks for everyone's encouragement. It means a lot, even if it is virtual/digital. 113.something from the MYB side.

MYB: +2 = 66.5
BSP: +4 = 57 - lunges and squats until my legs are noodles!!

MYB: 66.5
BSP: +1.5 = 58.5 - missed the max set on my pushups again so I did 4 more sets to failure each time. My abs are not really progressing as my pushups are I completed week 2 of the two hundred situps. Missed my MYB this morning because I woke up late :( I was up waaaaay past my bedtime last night (I decided to go to the range with my brother) but still got up to get a workout in! today at work I may have to set a coffee IV drip.

Awesome news Mike! good job brother!

I'm out a few days. Whole family came down with a cough. Looks like yesterday was the worst for me, so I may be able to do something light tomorrow or Saturday.
