Okay, for your information — and that of all the other loyal Beckerheads — a lot of this is my fault. I was kinda-sorta supposed to be getting this together on some level, but I haven't gotten very far.

I've been having some health issues recently, but the VA is adjusting some of my meds, so maybe I'll be able to concentrate for more than a few minutes at a time. If so, maybe I'll be able to get some things done.

If nobody noticed that I haven't been here for awhile, then I don't feel like I'm quite so far behind.:D

Thanks, Moose. Yeah, I'm adjusting to the new med's, and starting to feel almost normal . . . which means they'll probably change them again. Sometimes, ya just can't win.:D

Bladites' post, a few back, about 'piglets' got me to wondering... Becker Peckaries. Kind of a tongue twister to be sure.
 
Kinda funny DB, I'm in Anaheim right now, not too far from you. I could come down and raid your shop for trophies to take back home, LOL. I don't how you do it here in Kalifornia. I went out the last couple of nights to make fig 4's for a WSS challenge, and got harassed by the hotel workers for whittlin' sticks. Moose

Well, you're not quite that close, Moose — over 100 miles, LOL. I'm not sure what kind of trophies you could score around here, either, other than old newspapers and grass clippings (and a few dried palm fronds that I'm using to make fire-bow drills): not much in the way of trophies, I'm afraid.

Y' know, when you're practicing figure 4's, you're not supposed to do it in the hotel lobby; that's probably what upset the hotel staff.:D

If you were closer, I'd buy you a beer or something.
 
Well the job I am on should wrap up tomorrow, Friday is a paid day of whatever I want, or so my boss says. I don't fly out until Saturday, so. . . . . . we shall see. 100miles aint that far and the company is buying the gas, LOL. I was gonna go check some stuff out around here, Yorba park, the HOLLYWOOD sign, Compton (yea right).

I wasn't in the lobby, I was in the woods next to the hotel, but ever since they saw my RC4, I can't walk by the front door without someone coming out to "check" on me. Sheesh, you'd think they had never seen a hillbilly before. The guys I work with think its funny, that no matter where we go, I usually find the closest woods, and start making stuff. LMAO. I can't help it, its too flat here, need some mountains or somthing. I was kinda hoping to experience an earthquake while I was here, there have been 4 back home in the last 3 weeks. Nothing here yet. Here's to hopin'. Moose

Well, there are better uses of a free day than driving down here . . . I hear Compton's lovely this time of year. LOL :D

Actually, they probably don't see too many hillbilly's in Anaheim nowadays, except at Disneyland (do they still have the Davy Crockett exhibition over there?). I can identify with seeking out the closest woods (or reasonable facsimile). I can barely walk nowadays, but there was a time that any woods were worth investigating: indoors was boring.

Yes, Anaheim is kinda flat, but if you look to the East, you'll see some decent mountains. I don't know whether you have the time (it's a couple of hour's drive), but there are some substantial mountains with some pretty good woods to wander in. The desert is not that much farther, if you want to check that out.

Oh, and don't give up on the earthquake just yet. We had a four-pointer just East of here today, so there's still hope.

san diego is south of where you are?? perhaps you can road trip out and see desert palm springs, and joshua tree... now there's some hot dry country :) it goes from FLAT to WHOA, hill! to mountain damn fast. rugged! aside from man planted stuff, not a lot really growing that doesn't have SPINES. also roadrunners. they have cute and meaty legs :) also: they fly.

Naw, I didn't. I'm a stranger in a strange town, they were polite, so was I. I did have a 4" razor sharp knife in my hand, and I didn't want any Kali Kops showing up. Call me a coward, but going to jail on an out of town job, just pisses my boss off, LOL.

So, back to the Beckerhead Club. Now that we gots DB back (glad ur back), we should have some badass graphic coming.

How are we set with the Spark and the Supa Mods? I know Bladite was checking on that for us.

Criteria for joining? We still haven't settled on anything, yet. I'll throw some ideas out there, feel free to comment on them

Own a Becker Blade (duh), and post at least one pic in the Becker forums
20 posts of value in the Becker forums, not just +1 or yeah, I like it too.
Compete in at least one *Becker Challenge a year.

*Becker Challenge-something we devise or setup ever so often to have someone use a Becker for something, ie. Build a shelter, Make a Fig 4 trap, Sharpest Becker Contest, Name that Blade, Make dinner with a Becker, best handle wrap, Best looking Becker, you know sumpin' like that

Benefits- Beckerhead Number, Becker patch, A Beckerhead sig (for Goldies), a yearly give away of something, like a Becker knife, sheath, Gold Membership on the forums, stuff like that

Whatchoo guys think about it? Moose

Born and raised in so cal til about 4 years ago, and people DIE in earthquakes. like the northridge quake in the early '90's a lot of people are dead because of that.. so its one thing I wouldn't be wishing for....

so cal flat?? are you kidding?? laguna hills, dana point, santa monica mountains, hollywood hills.. of course these are really just hills but big bear, lake arrowhead up in actual mountains high elevation thin air that sort of thing..

of course you're really not close to anything that really represents what ca. is all about, let alone mountains but you're also less then an hour away from mt. baldy.. (mountains)

Like the Beckerhead requirements though the posts of value may be somewhat subjective. The challenge stuff sounds fun. How about a "Becker makes tiny spoon" challenge?

Ok then, how about we make it 75 posts Bladeforums wide. It gives someone a chance to get to know the forums and make their presence known, on some topics. I am supposed to meet up with Ethan on Monday to kick a few ideas around about it, but he is fired up about it. Moose
 
I agree with everything mentioned, particularly, actually owning some Becker steel. Some forumites run up the posts 'talking' about their favorite manufacturer, but don't actually own any of it (never could quite understand that). Becker cutlery is in everyones' price range with used pieces an even bigger bargain. We've got something good going here, let's see it through.
