Benchmade 761 is in stock!

Congrats!

Seems like my order got expedited by USPS and it's due in today instead of Friday. Good thing since I'll be out of town for the holidays soon.

Oo oo, I'll have to check my PO Box to see if mine is there. Mine was due Friday too.

****Meh, mine left Boise last night at 2100hrs

Congratulations!

That's really great to hear, good deal!

Photos, please, when you get it.

I'll get standalone pictures along with comparison pictures beside CRK Sebenza 25 & Umnumzaan (my Umnumzaan is the Wilson Star-Tac).

Please advise of any other comparison pictures. Perhaps a ProTech TR-3. Spyderco Slysz Bowie is smaller but I may as well do that one too. Perhaps a LionSteel SR-1 Titanium.

Benchmade 761 received. It's so smooth! Only 4.38 ounces for a 3.7" blade (0.115" thick) & Ti! Everything is great but the blade is a tad off center to the left (not touching anything thank goodness. The titanium has a great feel and texture to it. The blade itself is crazy sharp with symmetrical grinds.

I just don't understand why companies leave so little material at the cut out.

Looks nice though.

Thanks for the great shots. One of the more interesting details is they've included the hex adjustment nut. Seen in the second to last pic of the 761 by itself, this little gem first used on the Nitrous Strykers allows for adjustment as the lock wears. That's a very nice touch!

Just did a video of me oogling the knife. :)

To reduce the amount of force needed to open it. Otherwise, one of the things that happens is that people will take the knife apart, bend the locker to reduce the spring tension, and wind up sacrificing the reliability of the lock. I think it usually winds up looking like the lesser of two evils.

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't have said I don't understand why they do it. It just bothers me that the cut outs are made so thin to accommodate for some people. But again, I understand that it's the best option in production knives or so many wouldn't be like that. Just wishful thinking I guess, if we're going to act like frame locks are stronger than liner locks we shouldn't ignore that titanium is weaker than steel and many frame lock cut outs are thinner than liner locks.

I love the chamfering on this knife. The more videos I see the better the lines and design look. Can't swing it now, but maybe on the secondary market when prices go down.

Daaaang, this knife is looking good. I have been considering a first Umnumzaan recently but this offering with superior blade steel, made in USA, Benchmade warranty (+ Pbcg & RamZar's excellent comparison photos and Derrick's high praise video) have pretty much put the kibosh on that. The price would be tougher to swallow if I hadn't been considering a more expensive knife anyway. My only minor disappointment is the tip down carry. How are you all liking this in pocket?

It carries very well in the pocket because it's so light and thin. I think it's closest to CRK Sebenza 25 or Sebenza 21 Large but thinner and lighter but wider. It's actually smoother than the Sebenza!! The clincher is that it's about $80-$115 less than Sebenza Large 21 or Sebenza 25 and you get M390 vs. S35VN!

I'm with you on that. That's why one of the first thing's I said was quality wise the comparisons to a Sebenza were justified.

It's super smooth as you say, I decided to put a drop of Break-Free CLP on the pivot (Not that it needed it) just to see if it would have any effect and gave the blade a thumb flick and the blade "flew' out like it was assisted. Actually startled me lol.

The more I handle this knife the more awesome I think it is. It has so much going for it on so many levels, really very impressed with this one.

Great pic's by the way!

Thanks guys! I'm sold. I dig the CRK 25 but never carry mine. The 761 looks ready to go right in my pocket.

I can't take this knife seriously for some reason. The design makes it look like it is a Chinese produced knife.

I'm not into the looks of the current Benchmades. I seem to be attracted to the unique models. I fell in love with the 760 Lum when I saw it. Had to have one.

Within days of seeing the 761 I ordered it! Being sorted at my post office right now.
