Benchmade Shane Sibert 755

Pre ordered... been wanting this Sibert piece for a long while now but can't wait any longer. Is this the only configuration we will see?

I hope this mini sells well enough for benchmade to want to make more of shanes designs. I hope other companies follow this route and get out a copy of a custom knife-imagine a zero tolerance XM-18!

Now that would be nice! XM-18 have been on my radar for almost 2 yrs, they are out there but for $XXX! I would feel too guilty using it for it's intended purpose...

I wanted one when they first came out but I want to see more pics in hand and compared to other items before I pull the trigger on one for sure.

Heck I wouldn't feel guilty using it if I paid too much for one-before rick stopped taking orders I heard the wait list was up to a year! Its possible to get one from a dealer for much less, but I use that word loosely. I missed getting one by three minutes last month!

I'm considering going that route, but I might suggest to you a CRK umnumzaan. I just got one, and was surprised at how heavy duty it is. Wayyyyy nicer fit and finish then any knife I've ever owned.

Believe me I scour the internet trying to get a reasonably priced one but apparently the recession does not apply to cutlery! It's too bad you didn't snag that one but I'm sure another XM will pop up sooner than later...

Thanks for the UMnum advice, that was what I should have got instead of this sng. In the process of returning strider to dealer then go CR route

You won't regret it, I have an SNG also.. I don't dislike it, but in my opinion the zaan blows it away.

Soon as this mini pocket rocket comes in, I may just have the knife duo I've always wanted for EDC.

Not a big fan of Benchmade but this is one neat looking little knife !

I actually may get one... :)

This knife really felt great in the hand. For a small knife , it gives you a great grip and is extremely comfortable. Spent a good bit of time talking with Shane at the Benchmade booth , everyone I saw handle it loved it. In my opinion , it is the best Benchmade has made. Shane did a great job on the design , and BM nailed the execution.

When the BM asked me what I thought I said " 2 words , Sebenza Killer "

:)

Well..... it's happening !

I found myself thinking of this little knife several times last night and into this morning.

Wondering how it would feel in my hand , how nice it would be to open and close it repeatedly...

I feel the bug a bitin'. :)

I do wish it was a flipper since I'm addicted to flippers but this may break my no more folder unless it's a flipper pledge.

edit - there is one thing that sorta bugs me though , there is only one clip option , tip down. As a left hander I have gotten used to carrying a knife in my right pocket , opening with my right and transfering to my left for use.
When knives that nice and expensive are offered in that configuration only it speaks to me that you lefty's dont really count in the knife world so were not going to bother offering any other carry configurations.

What do you guys think about this ?

:)

I'm a lefty too, Tostig and so ambi options are always a consideration for me. Note, though, that the original Sibert only has one carry option, so I think BM simply copied faithfully the original design. On another knife, it might be a big enough turn off not to purchase, but I gotta have one of these.

As I told both Shane and the BM reps , I felt the MPR was close to purfect , and that it would be purfect IF it offered both options , tip up and tip down and the additional 2 holes allows them to reach a much larger group of buyers.

Although I am a tip up fanatic , I will buy a MPR , if it gets to the point where it annoys me , I will just drill and tap :)

There have been plenty of knives that I haven't bought because of the carry position being tip down , however the MPR will be the first that I will buy regardless....

I like the way you think!

Good to hear from ppl actually having the knife in hand, thanks for that. The only designs I've enjoyed using from BM were actually Lum inspired so this puts them right back on the map for me big time. Shane's designs really speak to me for some reason... I cannot wait to get this one working. I suppose it's to early to tell if there will be a follow up pocket rocket offering

Just what I was thinking. Now who is mimicking whom?

It certainly makes you wonder where Cold Steel got the idea for that blade from doesn't it?
