Put an Adamas in your hand and tell me it feels cheap! Yes Benchmade does have some cheaper plastic handled knives but they also have exotic special run knives. All in all they re a solid knife maker!

yeah i see u may be a benchmade and becker fan.i wasnt trolling just my opinon.been in this hobby 30 years and ever benchmade ive picked up is cheap feeling kinda like a plastic toy.had a becker broke the second time in use.just saying for the money they want for those knives should be alittle better and lets not start about the edge on a bm.

All of my Benchmades have come shaving sharp. The Becker, did you even bother calling Ka-bar? I'd wager they would have replaced it. If not, you have nobody to blame but yourself.

And if you want something that feels a bit better, again, consider buying something that DOESN'T come with Noryl GTX handles. Heck, the Monochrome I mentioned is a framelock that costs under $35 most places. It's plenty solid feeling. If "every Benchmade you've purchased is cheap feeling," you have nobody to blame but yourself. They may feel cheap, but they're plenty solid, and even then, Benchmade offers plenty of models at a wide variety of prices that don't feel cheap. Personally, I would have learned my lesson after the FIRST one, and would have decided to go with a G10 or metal-handled model for my next purchase. Seems like the height of folly to keep buying something that you think isn't worth the money.

You may be a troll, you may just be simple; it doesn't matter to me.

What I would like to know is what Benchmade knives you have actually handled, besides their bottom end knives, because if post 9 is the extent of your experience with them, then you don't have much of a sample. As crimsonfalcon07 mentioned, a G10 or a metal-handled knife would be worth looking at.

Ok just messed with my buddy onslaught and osbourne.still not up to par with other companys .just something about them feels poorly made

So I guess the best answer is that it is just you. Works for me.

My Benchmade 950 Rift (Black Class) feels like a tank. I mean, it is one solidly built, not to mention somewhat heavy folder.

Thermoplastic such as valox is a great material for grips and scales. It can be molded to practically any dimension, is self-lubricating, generally impervious to chemicals, won't freeze your hand in the cold, and is extremely resistant to impact. It's also light and relatively inexpensive compared to other materials. I've had a couple of Voyagers and Bucklites for years, and the handles show less wear than the blades.

While I prefer other scale materials, the scales on a grip/mini are plenty serviceable. There is a reason they keep going and going and at $60 are rather inexpensive.
I like the mini so much that I outfit them with scales of choice. voilà, no plastic!

There are plenty of solid benchmades out there. Pic up a 755 mpr or try one out at your local knife shop. It's one of the most solid and thickest knives I've owned. Or you could just try out a different company.

Maybe it's just your ability to tell the difference between quality and crap, if you feel like sog and cs knives are quality I'm not sure how highly I would value your opinion on knives.

Who are the other companies that they are not up to par with?

Evidently SOG and CS.

Also, for some reason, if he's to be believed, he bought multiple variations of the knife that he didn't like. Where's the sense in that?

"Gee, I don't think this knife is worth the money I paid for it. It feels really cheap because of this plastic handle. I know! I'll buy MORE knives from the same company with the same feature that I already discovered I didn't like. Clearly the entire company is crap, and nevertheless deserves more of my money for the same crap, because I can't be bothered to try something different." Does that strike anyone else as being just weird logic?

Why do benchmades feel so cheap and not put together well?

Is this a serious question? :barf: Should location be "under a bridge"? I could think of a lot of things to complain about with Benchmade knives, but questions like this are nonsense.

Or maybe BluegrassGuy has the answer.

mmm, I see. So there's no seriousness to this thread at all... I missed that.

You're talking to butthurt fanboys here. So, they're going to argue with you. I agree with you on some points. I have handled most of what I see on here excluding the Adamas and Contego, since I see them as pointless in comparison to a good fixed blade. I find some of the handles to be ok, but nothing special. Same as the FRN Spydercos, except they're cheaper for what they are with the same great blades. The action of Benchmades is what I don't like. I like a hard snap and a very controlled close; I've seen too many Benchmade owners disengage that lock and just let the knife drop. Nothing wrong with that, just not my style.
