Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

Thanks for posting those knives The Virginian.

In particular the Erickson Warenski, so beautiful. And that Estrella, I would love to EDC a Michael Raymond one day. So nice.

Ken (The Virginian) has great taste in knives, and has, as he has put it, an eclectic bent.

I tend to follow the same kind of route. I think he and I noticed Nathan's work for the same reasons. Collecting has nothing to do with price. For me, it has to do with quality and beauty - always recognizing beauty is a function of form and design.

Those are beauties, gus. I'm going to have to start dabbling in some of Andy's customs. So far I've been buying his production models which are great users.

Sorry for the late reply HK. I like the production models too, but you should try some of his handmade models they're sweet. The custom shop are nice too, they have a hand made handle with production blade.

Thanks.

BTW, that is actually a Starlit with a jigged handle, a Timascus pivot collar and thumbstud, a blacklip pearl pivot , , , and a swedge (!). I had an Estrella, too, which I bought off Michael's table at Blade maybe four years ago. It was a sweet knife. But then I got this Starlit, and it is just soooooooo much better in every single way (e.g., lighter, thinner, better blade-to-handle ratio, better pocket clip design) that I decided to sell the Estrella to another collector. It is really a terrific knife - so well designed and made . . . I think I like Michael's knives for a lot of the same reasons that I like Nathan's knives.

Yeah it would be great if we could get one with Nathan's optimized Delta 3V and Andy's custom handle.:D

Nathan has almost all his money in the blade and Andy almost all in the handle. I think putting them together would end up being a $500 knife. Not sure how many of those would sell!

At least one ;) Anyways, we're just talking about changing out the heat treat and material. I'd wager that you could pump out a 3V version of the production duke by running the blade through the same manufacturing process, and diverting it to a different HT, at only an incrementally increased cost. to my understanding, it's not like S35VN is inherently cheaper to work or HT than 3V, but maybe I'm mistaken.

One can dream, anyways.

No worries gus. I'm sure that I won't be able to control myself forever. I've been reviewing a lot of specifications. :D

Cheers

Yeah man, I lost my control on Fiddlebacks a while back. I'm currently trying to regain it.[emoji1] This custom shop Camp in 3V, and the matching hand made Bushfinger and Hiking Buddy in CPM154 are pretty sweet.

Lol, that set deserves at least 'pretty sweet' status! :) Thanks for that pic and thanks for naming the models as well

Between this and other threads where we get a glimpse of Betzner's and the Virginian's collections, I can't help but be left with a sense that I'd probably pay good money to be able to view their collection and listen to the stories behind (a few of) the knives. Really appreciate that they are shared here.

Dudley has absolutely wonderful pieces! I think he and I have owned a few of the same ones.

NOW - on second thought, I think what I was going to post should wait until later on.
