Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

I think I was the first person to get a "bowie tip" Custom Shoppe mod of the TGLB, and it all went down hill from there. I remember having to talk Garth into it because he was worried it would overly weaken the tip. Perhaps Nathan had already gotten to him.

Should we start a petition for a SDFK bowie variant? I mean, it would un-American not to, right?
Check the sdfk thread I already ask for a bowie.........

I mean "baton notch" ! Lol

I'm really really horrible. I mean unbelievably unbearable when looking at and evaluating people's knives. It's actually uncomfortable. I'm a real riot at knife shows, I have to be the most insufferable asshole in the room. It's a problem. I need to work on that.
I'm the same way at car shows looking at paint jobs lol

That one is great ! I have two Bowies from Chris as well, a Ferox and a lil’ Ferox.

At the risk of being banned, here is a lonely UF in a lot of bad company with the tip pointing in the wrong direction :)

Note that is an older photo that I’ve shared on BF before. My current mix of carries includes several other CPKs.
Very nice collection. I have a Ferox too.;)

My three favorite fixed blade makers, and my favorite folder at our new house we just closed on earlier today, in the mountains of eastern WV. It’s not pictured, but I really like my Erickson fixed blade as well.

Is that unbuffed OD green micarta on the DEK? It looks quite nice. I might get this scale on my next purchase!

A big thanks to Bill duramax duramax for the sheaths I received today.
Preaching to the choir, but Bill is doing some great work.
I saw one here in gray water buffalo a few weeks back and figured it would be good for my little slicer.
Bill must be a bit of a perfectionist as he took it upon himself to test a slight variation and sent me two finished sheaths at no extra charge!
(well, needless to say I'm going to throw in a little extra for the R&D fund)
The two images show the front and back views with the knife in a different sheath in each pose.
I like the retention strap, but retention is excellent in both, so it will just depend on my mood which one to use.

Thank you for the kind words :-) much appreciated !!!!

buffed looks better, not buffed works better
Certainly that is true. But it is a question of how much. How much a buffed handle looks better? That is relatively easy I guess to understand from a picture. Equally importantly, how much extra grip unbuffed provides? In what conditions buffed handle might be inappropriate (unsafe) to use? I think the second questions requires lots of comparative field test to answer. This is especially important for DEK and UF knives since I see no point for going for a buff handled in a chopper whereas a buffed handle might be OK in FK since they offer lots of surface area and contours for grip. On the other hand, DEK and UF are multi purpose knives which allows multiple uses with unique handles. So, it would be good to know for instance, how does a buffed handle will work when the hands are wet, bloody or slimy and bare.

This is why i like buffed:

Not slippery, even when wet, but feels more hygienic / easier to clean.

I feel qualified to answer this one. If we are strictly talking about grip and leaving aesthetics out of it, hands down unbuffed canvas is superior. Also, terotuf is awesome in that scenario although Nathan cautions against it for knives that might be doing food prep. I am fortunate enough to get to spend about a third of my life in the hills or along a river and there's always blood or fish slime on them (sorry Nate it's not as gross as it sounds, I clean them up once in awhile I promise)

eta: I also should have added......there's more grip on canvas or terotuf (whether buffed or not) when wet or bloody than dry. Great scale material.
