Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

CRK knives are all to some extent stiff although extremely smooth when new. Everyone I've owned breaks in to be very easy to open and still has that tight tolerance feel. The Zaans are more difficult straight out of the box and it's a slightly different motion to open than most thumbstud knives. They do however become buttery smooth and easy to open as well after a break in period.

If it's tough to use your thumb at first just use two hands while you're watching TV and work the pivot it will speed up the process.

This is one that Matt Gregory made about a year ago, and happily, has recently made its way to me. For me, as a Japanese style blade, its size, profile, and grind, are everything I could ask for. I think that this is some of his best work. The polished blue ray skin, with the white emperor’s node is, in my opinion, gorgeous. Matt’s resined, carbon fiber, wrap is a thing of beauty, also. He calls this one “Haiyan”. Matt’s wife, Jill, made the fine, lined leather sheath, which also includes the blue ray skin. The photo’s are Matt’s.

I’ve included Matt’s description below. It does include a couple of IG references. If I need to re-do things, let me know. Thank you. Mike

Outstanding! Love the knife and the blue on the sheath really pops. People talk of BBQ knives to show off…well you need to wear that one to Christmas gatherings! Enjoy.
