Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

Got my tracking number yesterday. This pretty little Ostrich bone EDC in Elmax, I commissioned from Vojta in the Czech Republic. Those who don’t know of Vojta Deštěnský Vojta Deštěnský are missing out on amazing craftsmanship and perfection from the knife, grinds, polish, handles and great snap fit leather sheaths. Takes great pictures of the knives he posts & videos of his creations. He takes it to a very high level and am happy to have an another Vojta knife coming.

Eta: And as I read just a little more.. That is a beautiful commission, sir. Congrats again😁

The other day when you started posting in here I thought I had clicked onto the Porch by accident, I'm so used to seeing you post in there 😄

Not wrong, funnily enough I’d always been into fixed blades far more than pocket knives. They’ve been a more recent hobby. Just starting to swing back to fixed blades again.

Lambfoot slip joints are the exception, I’ve loved them since I was a kid.

That's a great looking knife and it's about the perfect size and style for most uses in a hunting knife in my opinion. I think a lot of people carry and try to use way bigger knives than needed or are handy for hunting knives.

For sure, I don’t think most know how useful a small knife can be and have more control and potentially less accidents. I am looking fwd to getting the new Vojta, very excited.

Most of my hunting knives the last 15 years or so have typically been around 6” or under overall with around 2” blades or less, as that’s all I really need. The only real exception has been a longer knife is easier to extract Elk backstraps due to their large size, but everything is a cute little knife lol.

For instance in my hunting pack, I’ll always have the Bark River Mini Canadian, the 2 Victorinox hawk bill paring knives (with kydex sheath they are only 1.0oz each, and disposable if needed) that slice really well and are perfect for slicing the skin up the legs, belly, up the back of the neck, shoulder blades, hip bones, cutting off at the knees and the base of the skull, and usually have my Havalon.

The last 2 years I’ve carried the Vojta semi skinner (Czech Republic) and blade is fairly small. As you can see the EDC 3” dwarfs my hunting knives lol. I may try to work the EDC into the pack as well. I started carrying the Benchmade Altitude as well and will be in my Kill pack along with my Victorinox’s. I’ll try to find a way to work in the awesome Mazer skinner knife, and my newer smaller JJ Smith caper I got this year. SO many knives, so little time.

I also had Paul from CPE make me these little guys for hunting knives as well. The blue one has made it into the field once or twice now and carry as an EDC some.

Greg Krieger deerrockknives deerrockknives recently finished up a couple for me. The smaller is a B&T and the larger one is one of his Skinner Dan models. They are nice thin stock (the B&T is .08" at 63 HRC in Magnacut and the Skinner Dan is .113" at 63.5 HRC in Cruwear) both are great slicers.

If you haven't seen Greg's work yet check out his thread of finished work. He makes some beautiful knives and when you get ahold of his knives you can tell he has lots of experience using them as well.

So far I've only used these in the kitchen and while grilling a couple times, but I look forward to putting them both to work in the field real soon.
