Speaking of Krein, he did an AWESOME regrind on this Swamp Warden some years ago (I believe @Hard Knocks had it done)!

It has since received a beautiful forced patina by me (one of the best I've ever seen honestly; the most colorful one I've ever done) and some awesome Pirtle leather too. I posted these pics in this thread early last year:

It's one of my favorite small blades!
Man, that forced patina looks amazing. Do you mind sharing how you did it?

Note, this was the BEST I’ve ever had it turn out! It’s not usually this colorful, so keep that in mind. I think maybe it had to do with the regrind in this case. I mentioned it back on page 224 when I originally posted the pics:

Thanks bud! Maybe it was the regrind, but I have never seen SO much color come out of SR-101 with a forced patina like this. I did it the same way I usually do with plain yellow mustard. It’s crazy how much blue, purple, pink, and green there is! And it changes with shifting light, impossible to show with photographs.

A big plus, she picked up some exquisite Pirtle leather when with her previous owner too. :D One of my absolute favorites!!! 😎 👍

I just lightly dab plain yellow mustard on with the tip of my finger. Needs to be a thin layer so it dries in about 5-7 minutes, but the thicker “peaks” don’t fully dry. Wash off and reapply a 2nd time if needed. It’s the vinegar in the mustard that does most of the work.

ETA - if you search my username with terms like “mustard” and “patina”, you should find some pics and a good description of the process somewhere.

I found that cooked steak, and cooked chicken, when the meats are still juicy, maybe medium done, not too heavy ...will often give blue and purple swirls. I'm not sure if grilled vs stovetop matters, but mostly mine are grilled

I've found raw beef works even better. For whatever reason, beef seems to give a bluish patina.

Not affiliated, but this is pretty funny from Jerry B. What a slab. Would be outrageous to see a Behemother and Fell Beast side-by-side performance eval.

You knockin' the MOAB??? Them's fightin words mister!!! :p

ETA - I'll get a pic later of my MOAB next to my Behemother. I think it would be an interesting showdown. Out of the box, so to speak, I think the Behemother probably wins. Optimize the edge geometry on the MOAB, I think it wins, purely due to size/mass/length being bigger/heavier/longer. The Busse would lose its edge faster than the CPK, however.

lol, not knocking that thing at all. Just pointing out its wonderful absurdity!

(not easy to see but the Fonedork comment was re; the post's 'Likes' at the bottom of each pic. 🙂 )

A while back, I think that it was in 2019 (?) we were discussing some CPK pattern naming and semantics so I had suggested that the natural progression from the the Behemoth to the more stout Behemother, ought to perhaps be the Behemothest alla a 14" blade. Nathan responded back with an "evil grin" emoji, so we may not have seen the last of the Behemoth line although there is nothing of this concept on Nathan's White Board that I know of. However with that MOAB and then the Huntsman Fell Beast patterns floating around, something may re-ignite that idea in Nathan's head again. I am hoping so anyway :)

As much as I loved my Behemother, size matters … :)

Just arrived and I’m thrilled. Rumor is these are CPK scales ? Maybe someone can confirm … outstanding job, Hunter / Huntsman Knife Co. LLC. Huntsman Knife Co. LLC. !

Glad yours has finally arrived!

I wont be making that mistake again when fitting up the handles, thats for sure 🙃

And point of clarity, CPK made the scales for the OG Fell Beast but these were made by Stoner CNC. I was originally going to have Nathan make another batch for this run but I wanted some changes made and I decided it would be best to have the blade and scales milled under one roof just to lower the risk for fitup issues between the blade and scales. Stoner CNC absolutely nailed them and I'm super happy with how they turned out.

Matt Stoner and Nathan make the best scales in the world in my opinion  Its been an honor to work with both of them.
