( @CPE_Knives’s Kwaiken - Happy new year, Paul !)

Looking for recommendations. I like this little blade by WTG and I was hoping someone might be able to recommend something similar by another maker. It has a 3.7 inch blade. Thumbnail has the other stats.
Any recommendations are welcome

Seems like it has some Puukko DNA in there. I could recommend a few makers in that regard but they will certainly be on the more traditional side.

David Mary David Mary could prolly make you something similar.

David is going to be very busy for quite a while and has a big backlog. He seems to have his hands full right now.

I’d recommend hittiting up Paul CPE_Knives CPE_Knives . He has been amazing to work with, very patient, and does fullers well. Paul will pretty much build you anything you want within his limits which is very little.

Otherwise josh with Mazer knives navman navman recently did an awesome Pukko that this reminds me of minus the fuller

Williams Blade Design is another option for slim, stabby Japanese style blades. Varying blade lengths. Smaller one is 4.5” here. I think he has a 3.5 also.

I’d always been leery of the lack of any real guard to prevent your hands slipping onto the blade when stabbing with those.

The Ukrainian vs Yakut-Russian knife fight reaffirmed that concern (I wouldn’t recommend looking for the video. It’s brutal).

All of my accidental cuts have come from knives with some kind of guard B bluemax_1 . I’m no knife fighter tho. :)
For blades specifically meant as fighting knives, it just seems to be an overlooked flaw.

If it’s meant for fighting, stabbing will be involved, and there’s a difference between accidentally cutting yourself with a knife, and slicing your fingers from your hand sliding up onto the blade when/if you’re fighting for your life.
