Besides CPK knives, whaddaya like?

Casino, I am an open book. Dudley (Dawkind) and I have owned many of the same knives at one time or another. I don't mind posting a knife or two here and there in forums, but some time ago stopped posting from my primary collection (Warenskis).

Nathan's methods and products (ie, his dagger, shiv, etc) grabbed my attention so I began building a complete set of black micarta CPK knives, plus other older (and newer) pieces where available.

But feel free to pry away.:D

Show us something with some crazy engraving Bob! I love looking at your professionally taken pics of the absolutely amazing pieces you have collected over the years.

Here's one that would qualify for some crazy engraving by Julie Warenski, image from the cover back flap of the Dr. David Darom book "The World of Art Knives" :

And here's one I should never have sold!!:

And yet another I sold just this year, at the Solvang Knife Show:

Ahhh there it is. Julie is really, really good.

If I live to be old and gray, and the zombies have not marched, I will have to get something she has done.

After seeing some of Betzner's pieces of art, I have realized that I'm driving totally out of my lane and I ought to get back to pedaling my unicycle in a deep and uneven ditch :(

Bob has not even shown his good stuff yet! He's just sorting though his junk drawer showing us what he has laying around.

Well not exactly!

Bob, as always, thanks for sharing. Simply outstanding. Every time I see your post there is a new pic in it!

Much appreciated Sir!

Mr. Betzner, can I ask, do you have anything from Dwight Towell? I'm only curious because I know Dwight and happen to have one piece from him, his base model, which my family pooled their money and bought for me upon my graduation from college some years ago. Some of your pieces remind me of blades he has shared with us while in the process of finishing them.

Regards,

David

Thanks, guys. David, no Towells here but a friend has had several over time, great pieces. And let's not forget, Dwight Towell was at one time one of the 25 makers of the bi-annual Art Knife Invitational (AKI) in San Diego, an event the other 24 makers had to vote him into.
Bob

ps: I only planned on posting one pic above, but what with the request for engraving and close-ups, the others followed. I will not be posting alot of pics, hopefully, as I think doing so takes something away from the specificity of this subforum, which should more rightfully be devoted to Nathan's great work. His machine work is no less an art, just a different form.

EDIT: I mean, how can you NOT put the dagger, pictured below, in a category of beauty/fit/finish/perfection that is anything less than any of those engraved pieces above? You just can't. Period. It is just as magnificent.

Bob, this is JUST the right place for your photos! Keep em coming, bud :)

Tai Goo makes great quality pieces but as many might expect, I go for the wild ones.

Bob, thanks for the reply, and I agree wholeheartedly on the level of artistry from this forum's host.

I have not seen all the daggers Nathan has done, only 3 of them, but that one just... I love it. Thanks for posting it again Bob.

And David, nice! I never knew you own a Towell! How special that your family bought it as well. I bet that one is a keeper.

I love these pics guys, thanks so much.

Thank you Justin. Yes, that blade is very special to me. I was completely blown away when I received it, and still am whenever I get it out.

Here's another piece by Canadian Jose Cabral de Braga. This is from his "Star Ship" collection of 20 years ago, another of which, in abalone, is shown earlier in this thread. He was greatly interested in the mechanisms of folders and built switchblades, bolster releases - and even a folder that opened through a cable system, not visible and built into the body of the folder.

With respect to the folder below, a bolster release, the customer specifically requested Macassar Ebony scales, and to date, this is the only folder Jose ever built with wood scales. His art lends itself more to metal and composite. Jose is perhaps best known for the blades he built that were used in some of the "Highlander" movies years ago, including the one carried by Mario Peeples .
