Best $30 EDC Blade?

Lately I have been wanting a new edc blade. There is no particular reason that I need a new blade, but I have been carrying a kershaw scallion for the past 3 years, and I think it's about time to retire it. I prefer smaller knives, cause I don't need much blade when I only use a knife for about 10 minutes a day. So I am considering a buck vantage select small, spyderco persistence, or kershaw skyline, although I think the skyline is a bit big for a edc blade for me. My budget is about $30. Out of these three blades, which do you all prefer? Or should I consider something different?

I know its not on your list, and therefore im not really answsering your question but the best edc for under 30 bucks that i have used is the RAT 1. I still cant believe how well it performs. May be a bit large for your taste though.

Both are excellent blades. I prefer Spyderco, though. If you want to take a bit of a step up, the Spyderco Delica is a good choice.

Pick up on a SOG Flash 1 for $35.00

They are small, sharp, and light at about 1.5 ounces.

At one time I had considered the flash 1, because it seemed to have everything that I was looking for, but I had heard from a few different people that it theirs had problems such as not locking up solidly and whatnot. Is this really a big enough reason to not purchase a flash 1? As far as the RAT 1 goes, I think it's a little to big for my tastes. But thanks for the reccomendation tho.

The skyline is unbeatable. you will be amazed at how small of a body that knife is packed into. it carries well, and will hold an edge forever with what you are using it for.

The Skyline is a great little folder nice deployment slices like a dream and is very light, I don't have the Persistence but its big brother Tenacious is also a great folder and that full flat grind blade is sweet so either way you can't go wrong.

i like the skyline.

The skyline of those three, but for a sub $30 blade I really love the looks and feel of the CRKT Centofante Tribute 2. No clip or one hand opening, but boy do they feel good in hand.

I will have to vouch for the SOG Flash 1 in PLAIN EDGE only. Be warned there is blade play but for a knife that size for small tasks it really doesn't make much of a difference. To me the limitations for the SOG Flash 1 are thin cardboard boxes. Anything more than that and you will have problems. But for anything else I highly recommended it. Sometimes on Amazon it can go for around 30 w/ free shipping.

I think the Skyline must be the best thing since sliced cheese. Seems I've been reading an awful lot of posts about it. 'course, might be why I just picked one up too.. :D

if you can add more cash i would get a delica. if not then i am sure the scallion would be fine. i alternate between a delica and a chrome chive. i carry the chive at work since i would be hesitant to use the delica in front of my co workers.

The first Kershaw I got was a Scallion. My second was the Skyline and I have been a dedicated customer since. The light, thin Skyline just disappears in your pocket. I love it for EDC use. It is an EDC classic blade! If you try it, you won't regret it.

i'd go with persistence. qc with spyderco is best and they have unbeatable service. skyline is ok but each one ive held has had something i didnt like, and it was never the same thing (slow opening, blade centering, fit and finish). persistence has always been perfect out of the ones ive seen

I like the Kershaw Leek. Mine was about $33 (on amazon, bead blasted finish). If you want to go more on the budget side, look at the Blackjack Tanto Folder. It holds a decent edge, and feels pretty decent for a ~$12 knife.
