Best fixed blade for EDC?

When I think of an edc fixed blade I go to something small, folderish size with narrow blades. Ther’re also typically under three inches. Unless I’m out in the woods the knife doesn’t need to be super heavy duty. It just needs to take care of daily cutting tasks. Two examples is the smith and sons desperado and feral knives koda. D2 and s35 steel. Smith and sons also have quite a few other smaller fixed blades which fit the bill like the axiom.

While I have my sights set on a Horsewright Horsewright knife in the future, my go to edc sheath knives these days are by Dawson.

The first is the Outback and the second is the Mercury. Both came with Kydex pocket sheaths that clip inside the front or back pockets. Both have about three inches of blade.

I also considered Lionsteel M1, but opted for Viper Berus 1 just because it's smaller and has better ergonomics. It's a bit thicker too.

Fallkniven Kolt is a really nice knife, but not really to my personal taste.

I remember my ex who was a feminist, she had Fallkniven WM1 and was proud owner of it just because it was a knife designed for women.
It was a really nice blade, but I remember that she somehow chipped it, and was unable to get it sharp again.
I offered to take those chips out for her, I literally told her that I have coarse diamond stones because D2 is way more wear resistant than that, and I'd take them out in no time...
But she refused, not to bother me she said.

Now, you'll laugh when you hear what she did next...
She actually bought a small machine with sandpaper belt to sharpen all of her knives (and to fix her WM1).
But, she also didn't do research about how to do it properly, and when she asked me how do I sharpen my knives I said "I just grind them until they are sharp". So that's what she did.
But difference is, I'm sharpening by hand on a stone.
Long story short, the area around the tip turned dark blue

That thread was before the rush of good Chinese knives. I do like some of the fixed civivi options.

I carry a couple of different f.b.'s When we are out at our place on Lake O, I'll carry a stag handled TM or its counterpart either a Recon Scout or a custom Billy Helton forged clip point, near as big as the RS. When in town I'll carry again a couple of different f.b.'s like the old Boker made Bud Nealy tanto, or a John Landi in A2 in a pocket sheath or a Mike Irie hunter in 154cm that is nice and compact. All serve their purpose.

This is yer another "Best" thread.

There is no swuch thing as a "Best EDC Fixed Blade".

It all depends on who you are and what you are doing. A fishing guide may use a knife optomised for salt water corrosion resistance designed fot filleting fish. An oysterman might opt for something shorter and stouter.

In another life time, I worked offshore, often cutting open 50-100 sacks of chemicals to add to the drilling mud. Ruined several Buck-110s. Then ground out a short fixed blade from a spackle knife and re-ground it as needed.

If you are a Gurka mercenary, your EDC fixed blade is likely to be a massive Kukri.
