Best knife you ever bought

I've reported everyone in this thread, including myself. And Lorien Lorien twice.

Best folder is my CRK Umnumzaan Tanto, it's tough, comfortable and sexy. Best fixed blade is either my Busse SJTAC comp finish or my Carothers HDFK and FK2. They are all super tough but cut like lasers and are very comfortable, although the Carothers get the nod for better handles and finishing. Some Canadian dude designed them.

but I posted 3 times?!
I demand a recount.

Most of the knives I've bought are the best, but if it comes down to which knife I've used the most, I'm pretty sure it's this one;

Fixed: Bark River Tundra in 3V. It is big enough and very strong, but the high convex grind makes it suitable for all kinds of cutting tasks in all kinds of situations, including survival. 3V is tough. The ergonomics are second to none and I find the handle material very attractive (elder burl). The leather sheath with a FC rod holder is great too.

Close second: Bark River Bravo 1 LT.

Folder:
I am torn between these two:

Spyderco Bradley Folder 2. I have been using this knife for everything (kitchen, garden, EDC) and it did everything exceptionally well. I think of it as 'a poor mans Sebenza', but with a superior steel. :-)

Native 5 Fluted Ti: after removing the pocket clip, the ergos, the F&F, the feel, the action, the locking mechanism, and the looks are everything I ever wanted.

But I like the GB2 for its larger, high hollow grind blade in M4 steel (I also like the looks btw).
Ultimately, as a tool, the GB2 will outperform the Native. That makes it the better folder.

Finally, I think the Bark River Tundra is my best knife overall, simply for being bigger and full tang. And in a way, the convex grind is doing the same thing as the hollow grind does (reduces friction), except the convex blade is much stronger.

The OP question is like asking which one of your kids is your favorite.

Then again, I don’t have 300+ kids.

Or do I? Ahhhh the good ‘ole college days.

It’s for best not favorite. I love all my kids equally, but one is better than the others. Better grades, helps more, better attitude.

I can’t pick a best knife without a quantifier. Best skinner for large animals. Best skinner for small animals.
Best locking folder, best non locking folder. Etc.

Hard to say. Some, for example, a Marlin Spike, "Loom Fixer/Half Hawk" and "Hawk Bill" I bought for specific jobs/tasks. While "best" for doing those tasks, they are not exactly "ideal" for other tasks.

For normal EDC a large stockman, and Buck 110 or Old Timer 6OT/7OT and a 4 blade Scout/Camp/Demo knife, or SAK "Huntsman".
These are my "normal" EDC trio.

Hunting/Woods knife would have to be the 110/6OT/7OT, or a two blade slipjoint folding hunter, or large moose.
Fixed blade hunting/woods knife has to be a Mora Number 1, CS Finn Bear, or Western L66

For go to meeting/executive business office, something like a Canoe, Barlow, Tear Drop, or Sowbelly stockman and SAK "Classic SD" or "Signature".

For folders, it has to be one of my Full Tracks, were the S35VN version fixed the one thing that I didn't like about the M390 version: lock access.

For fixed, the jury is still out. Kind of a moving target right now, until I get my Hell Razor 2 ... just a guess.

Roland.

That's high praise, Roland. I may have to check one of the Full Tracks out at some point. I always thought they looked a bit ungainly.

Well, a little Frank Lloyd Wright, IMHO :)

I just like the size and function, hits a sweet spot for some reason.
