Best low dollar fixed blade?

You did good! The Eskabar is a great knife and with the left over money, you almost have enough to pick up a Becker BK-2, also. Becker makes great, high value blades. :)

Although it has been discontinued, the best bang for the buck in the 7-10" line in the past years is the Browning Crowell/Barker in my opinion. Next I would choose the Esee line (any of them) and then the BK series of knives.

Becker or Ontario Knife Co has the best bang -for -your -buck -knives---PERIOD, IMHO anyway. There are LOTS of great knives out there, but you said bang for the buck. It is what it is.

Great choice, I have the BK-11 myself and I use it for everything. Almost got the 14 but the bottle opener won out over the longer handle for me lol

Not 7" but the buck 119 is fantastic for what you need it for...had anywhere around the $50 mark, will field dress a large deer with no hassels.

People really list ESEE as a low dollar fixed blade!?!?

Thinking the same thing, and after all the e-drama with them and dpx i'm kinda put off esee anyhoo...plenty of business' out there with less drama, and rock solid warranty for me to put my money into (I like to see some stability in a company I buy from).

You did see he asked for fixed blades right? you listed mostly folders.

I have used and abused a buck nighthawk great knife. I did snap of at tiny piece of the tip in my younger(read stupid) days by throwing it into a quarter that I had tossed onto the floor to show a buddy I could hit it;a little filework and good as new.
Regular old KaBar is hard to beat.
Cold steel GI tanto is tough and fairly comfortable.

The Gerber Prodigy is one of my favourite modern low cost fixed blades. Retails well under $50 and is very dependable. Made in USA too.

However, my favourite low dollar fixed blade ever is the J Martiini M571. All carbon steel and cuts like a lightsabre. Hands down, the best $10 knife you'll ever own.

The Blue Otter from TOPS is a great little fixed blade for around $80, which i do not consider too pricey.
