Hey guys,
I was wanting yall's input on the best SAK. I have a climber model, and was in a store this morning and found another model(can not remember) that included a bonus single blade with it. Does anyone know which one this is and if it is worth the money.

A lot of people on this forum like the Farmer and it is a good knife, but IMO the best SAK is the Field Master, since it has both a saw and a scissors. I use the scissors more than anything on a SAK, which is the thing that makes the Farmer less than ideal.

I bought that combo at Target, it was a Tinker with a single blade utility with it.

Same here. That's why my favorite is the Huntsman, since AFAIK, that is the smallest Victorinox model with both those tools.

As XMP already mentioned, a lot of people love the Farmer or ALOX Farmer.

Personally, my primary SAK anymore is also a Fieldmaster... good blend of options and size, IMO.

It's the same thing as the Huntsman, but it switches the corkscrew for a phillips screwdriver... both are great, but I do find myself using that phillips a good bit. I used to think scissors were unnecessary since you have a knife, but those scissors really do come in handy... and the saw... the saw is a must.

On what you saw at Target, I also think it's a Tinker or Super Tinker with a Classic... I think.

As TF88 mentioned the Field Master and the Huntsman are similar, but I never use the corkscrew and do occassionally use the philipps. Besides the corkscrew ruins the comfort of the grip if you do ever have to cut something stubborn.

I like the hiker. It is light to carry.

I have a hard time choosing between a farmer, pioneer harvester and the hiker, but If I had to go with one I believe the hiker would end up on top, like the extra tools and to me a more secure grip than the alox, even though the alox is ribbed, its slippery to me, maybe due to the smaller width of the over all knives in alox..any way hard to go wrong with a farmer, hiker or fieldmaster, if you want scissors:)

+1:thumbup:
I thought I was the only person on this forum that carried a Fieldmaster.:D

Its true, and not just hype. The Farmer is the best SAK model. It just needs a better name.

My favorite is the Solo, although admittedly I haven't bought every single model. Yet.

My second-favorite, whatever's on super-duper closeout sale. :)
